The Pulsar S 130 was crafted not to resolve apparent contradictions, but to merge them: refined elegance meets audiophile-grade music reproduction in a compact, subtle form factor. Despite its modest size, its newly developed bass system delivers astonishing low-end performance, while the award-winning Symmetric Directivity mid-high frequency system—celebrated for its innovation by the German Federal Government—ensures pure sound without disruptive reflections.

With its sophisticated form and elegantly subdued finishes, the Pulsar speakers integrate effortlessly into any space, embodying T+A’s “Music First” ethos: sound reproduction that reflects the artist’s intent, presented in timeless elegance that complements rather than dominates your interior.

Design & Construction

As the third generation of T+A speakers, the Pulsar series introduces our design philosophy of “Classical Modernity.” Building on timeless elegance, our designers reinterpret classic elements in an excitingly modern way, uniting apparent contrasts between modernity and tradition. Their distinctively curved enclosures, inspired by Art Deco, lend the Pulsar speakers a sculptural grace that artfully conceals their true dimensions, giving them an imposing yet refined presence despite their compact form. The finishes, available in black or white, are achieved through a meticulous multi-layer process that guarantees both timeless beauty and lasting durability. Inside, the thoughtfully engineered bass reflex design mirrors this external perfection. Precisely tuned parameters harness the previously untapped rearward energy of the drivers, directing it to maximise bass pressure without compromising on control or precision.

AudiophileLinearity Tweeter

The newly developed tweeter in the AudiophileLinearity series features an exceptionally stiff yet lightweight magnesium dome, specially coated to eliminate resonances that typically occur with metal domes at higher frequencies. Its outstanding impulse response is free of any hardness or sharpness, and it can reproduce frequencies up to 40 kHz with impeccable clarity. A custom-designed Audiophile Diffuser ensures even sound dispersion across this frequency range, maintaining smooth, glistening highs without overpowering the sound foundation.

StarStabilizer Drivers

A unique design feature and a defining advantage in sound: our four StarStabilizer diaphragms In raw material refined with silicon powder, a central, star-shaped reinforcement is crafted, preventing modes and self-resonances before they even have a chance to form. This design ensures the membranes move in perfect pistonic harmony, transmitting only the pure incoming signal and preserving the music’s essence, untouched and unaltered.
In the bass region, two 150 mm high-performance woofers integrate rearward energy into the bass reflex system thanks to carefully matched resonance frequencies. With their robust magnets, large voice coils, and long-throw design, they deliver undistorted and highly responsive bass, even at the deepest frequencies.
For our Symmetric Directivity System, the Pulsar’s two 110 mm high-performance midrange drivers are equipped with extra-strong magnets for optimal control and power. Premium coil systems allow them to reproduce the entire vocal range without distortion or harshness, resulting in a richly natural and dynamic midrange.

Organic Baffle

While low bass frequencies place tremendous demands on the structural integrity of the cabinet, the short wavelengths of high frequencies require a completely different approach to ensure precision. Even the smallest irregularities, such as those caused by screw-mounted chassis frames or minor edges on the baffle, can disrupt the radiation of these frequencies, resulting in subtle but audible colouration.
Our T+A OrganicBaffle Design is a scientifically rigorous solution to this challenge. In all speakers, the baffles are entirely screw-free and internally anchored, and their form is meticulously calculated to prevent any potential interference with sound dispersion from the outset, rather than addressing it after the fact. This innovative design guarantees accurate mid and high-frequency reproduction without any interference, allowing listeners to experience sound in its purest form.

Symmetric Directivity System

For 40 years, our mission has been the natural, uncoloured reproduction of music: nothing of the artist's intent should be masked or altered by a T+A system. In line with this vision, our team of engineers has developed the Symmetric Directivity Design, a cornerstone technology in all T+A speaker series, bringing the precisely defined sound radiation pattern of our reference speakers to new price categories.

Using dual StarStabilizer midrange drivers and the new AudiophileLinearity tweeter, this system creates a sound field that is strongest at the listening area’s centre, reducing harmful reflections from ceilings and floors before they can impact the listening experience. The result is a wide soundstage with authentic depth and precise localisation of voices and instruments, almost entirely independent of the room.

Deliciously Crispy

The Pulsar S delivers striking, controlled low end and taut, articulate midrange from its dual 150 mm woofers, paired with a airy, extended treble and a wide, Symmetric Directivity-driven soundstage. Best of High End and Audiophilepure praise its refined engineering and cabinet design that minimise coloration, making this compact floor‑stander a compelling audiophile option.

Best of High End

"T+A’s Pulsar S 130 loudspeakers stand out as a spectacular marriage of form and function."

Pros

  • Powerful, well-controlled bass from dual 150 mm woofers and bass-reflex tuning.
  • Extended, non‑fatiguing treble thanks to the AudiophileLinearity magnesium‑dome tweeter and diffuser.
  • Focused, room‑friendly soundstage and precise imaging driven by the Symmetric Directivity approach.
  • High-quality cabinet engineering (Organic Baffle Design) and refined finishes that reduce coloration.

&

Cons

  • Passive‑only design with no DSP/streaming or explicit bi‑wire/contour features mentioned in reviews.

Sound Quality

94/100

Bass

94/100

Reviews praise a newly developed bass system and bass-reflex tuning that delivers rich, well-controlled low end; wording like "impressive low-end performance" and "undistorted and responsive bass even at the lowest frequencies" supports strong bass performance for a dual 150 mm woofer tower. Given the dual ~6" woofers and reviewer language, this sits at the high end of the mid-tower band.

Mid

94/100

Dual StarStabilizer midrange drivers and a purpose-shaped baffle are credited with minimizing resonances and preserving timbral purity; reviewers note precise localization and a rich midrange, indicating highly accurate vocal and instrument rendering through the crossover region.

Treble

94/100

The AudiophileLinearity magnesium-dome tweeter and custom diffuser are reported to extend to 40 kHz while avoiding metallic resonances, producing clear, airy highs described as "glistening" yet non-fatiguing. This evidence supports very refined, extended treble performance without harshness.

Soundstage Imaging

93/100

T+A's Symmetric Directivity/System and baffle geometry are cited as creating a centered radiation pattern that reduces reflections; reviewers describe a rich soundstage with depth and precise instrument localization, indicating strong width, depth and stable imaging.

Dynamics

92/100

Long-throw drivers with robust magnets are highlighted for delivering undistorted, responsive bass and overall dynamic authority; reviewers emphasize clean, powerful delivery even at demanding passages, pointing to excellent micro and macro dynamics for the design.

Build Quality

93/100

Innovations such as the Organic Baffle Design and internally anchored chassis are reported to reduce cabinet-induced coloration and resonances; the construction and finishes are described as carefully engineered for audiophile-grade reproduction, supporting a high build-quality score.

Features Connectivity

80/100

Passive tower baseline applied (no DSP/app/streaming expected). Reviews do not mention bi-wire terminals or contour switches, so no positive connectivity adjustments were applied; treated as a well-engineered passive speaker.

Value for Money

74/100

Reviewer language praises musicality and compact power, but the listed price (~9,990) positions the Pulsar S as a premium product; while enticing for buyers seeking compact audiophile towers, the high price limits the value-for-money score absent explicit statements about exceptional price performance versus peers.
