The meat and potatoes of HiFi ratings
Our Watt’n Potatoes Score system provides clear, reliable product evaluations through an aggregated scoring system inspired by trusted review platforms. This tool helps you make informed decisions about which audio products are worth your investment, based on both expert opinions and community feedback.
The system analyzes reviews for each product and displays what percentage are positive. Based on these results, we assign clear visual labels that make it easy to understand product quality at a glance.
How Does the Watt’n Potato Score Work?
Watt'n Potato (WnP) is HiFi Hub's unified 0–100 score that blends expert consensus, published measurements, and hard specs, normalized by category and price band for fair comparisons.
Each product shows core factors (sound quality, build, reliability, value, support) plus category-specific criteria (e.g., DACs: resolution, timing, noise floor; speakers: imaging, dynamics, bass extension).
Community reviews are coming soon and will be added to the model as they roll in.

Nothing special — edible, sure, but it won’t blow your mind. Think of it as your average side dish.
-69%
A bit disappointing. Lacking crunch, texture, or flavor. This one left a lot of folks wanting more.

Score
Calculated?
Inputs (today) expert review consensus, published measurements, and verified specs from brand PDPs.
Coming soon community reviews.
Category & price-band normalization criteria and weights change by category (e.g., DAC vs speaker) and are normalized within price bands so pricey gear isn’t unfairly advantaged.
Math (high level) standardize each factor (z-scores), cap outliers, apply category weights, then map to a 0–100 WnP via a bounded (logistic) transform.
Badges & thresholds “Best Value,” “Editor’s Choice,” etc., trigger off WnP + price/performance cutoffs. Coming soon.
Auto-refresh scores recompute whenever new reviews/measurements/specs are added.
Planned add-ins when owner reviews go live, they’ll be a separate factor with guarded weighting and fraud checks.
