3-way floor-standing speaker

Original and contemporary, Kanta N°2 reinvents music listening. Like the other products in the line, this floor-standing speaker boasts a truly disruptive aesthetic, combined with a combination of exclusive Focal technologies. Iconic design at the service of high acoustic performance: this is the exceptional DNA of this high-fidelity loudspeaker.

FLAX AND BERYLLIUM COMBINATION

The line's original combination of Flax membrane and Beryllium tweeter. Flax brings clarity and sonic precision; Beryllium contributes to the reproduction of sensational treble. The sound of Kanta N°2 is precise, warm and exceptionally musical.

FOR SOUND AND DESIGN

Thanks to Focus Time, all the loudspeakers are at the same distance from the ear. The modern character of the loudspeaker is underlined by a one-piece molded wood rear shell, a Zamak base, a glass plate, discreet magnetic fabric holders...

MODERN FINISHES

Matte, White, Ivory or Black fronts are combined with Black High Gloss, White High Gloss or Walnut High Gloss bodies, offering a wide choice of contemporary combinations. The sophisticated Matte effect "absorbs" light rather than reflecting it, creating a refined contrast with the varnishes.

Deliciously Crispy

A thrilling balance of air and authority, the Kanta No2 pairs a pure beryllium tweeter with damped flax drivers to deliver ultra-transparent treble, natural midrange and tight, deep bass down to ~29Hz. Reviewers from HiFi News and Audiophilepure praise its refined dynamics, premium build and stylish finishes — a compact three-way that sounds bigger than it looks.

Audiophilepure

"the featured instrument was potently majestic, and the brass section, playing full out, matched the acoustic power of the organ without the sound disintegrating into an undifferentiated mess"

Pros

  • Exceptional, highly resolved treble from the IAL3 beryllium tweeter noted for transparency and detail.
  • Deep, controlled bass with strong extension (reported to reach ~29Hz) and NIC motor control for tight low end.
  • Smooth, natural midrange that delivers convincing vocals and instrument timbre.
  • High-quality engineering and finishes—HDP baffle, premium cabinet materials and adjustable Zamac base—give it a refined, premium presence.

Cons

  • Position-sensitive: reviewers report it performs best in small-to-medium rooms and needs careful placement for optimal imaging.
  • Benefits noticeably from capable amplification—some listeners found dynamics improved after switching to higher-performance amps.
  • Competitively priced segment: strong alternatives exist at the same price point, so value depends on listener priorities.

Sound Quality

93/100

Bass

94/100

Multiple reviewers describe the bass as huge, tight, punchy and well controlled (PT Audiophile: 'huge, tight and punchy'; SoundStage Solo: 'powerful bass'; HiFi News: 'satisfyingly full and firm'). -6dB low point reported ~29 Hz supports strong extension. No repeated complaints about needing a sub; port is non-chuffing and placement-unfussy.

Mid

93/100

Midrange is repeatedly praised for coherence, smooth/vocal presence and natural timbre (PT Audiophile: 'spacious... pleasing decay'; Audiophilepure: 'vocals incredibly smooth'; SoundStage Solo: 'very present and immediate midrange'). One reviewer noted occasional slight rear-placed lead vocal, but overall very convincing.

Treble

95/100

The IAL3 beryllium tweeter receives strong, repeated acclaim for transparency, detail and controlled brightness (PT Audiophile: 'ultra-transparent... like a $25k tweeter'; SoundStage Solo: 'clear and detailed treble'; Audioholics: highlights of the new 27mm beryllium design). Reviewers did not report edginess on real recordings.

Soundstage Imaging

91/100

Reports of a wide, layered and stable soundstage with good depth and focus (PT Audiophile: 'places the high end in the room'; Audiophilepure: 'huge and high-resolution soundstage'). HiFi News at times found the image a touch constrained/static, so excellent but not quite boundary-pushing.

Dynamics

94/100

Consistently noted for slam, speed and macro/micro dynamics (PT Audiophile: 'defining characteristic... dynamic punch'; Audiophilepure: 'potently majestic' with suitable amps). Reviewers emphasize both fast transients and headroom when paired with capable amps.

Build Quality

93/100

High-quality materials and engineering: flax sandwich cones, TMD suspension, NIC motors, beryllium tweeter, HDP polymer baffle and plywood cabinet; Zamac adjustable bases/spikes included. Reviewers praise aesthetics, finishes and driver technology as premium and well executed.

Features Connectivity

80/100

Passive tower baseline applied. OEM Zamac bases with adjustable spikes and pre-mounted counter-spikes noted in reviews; no DSP/app required. (Per scoring rules, passive towers capped at baseline.)

Value for Money

82/100

Performance is high and several reviewers call them an easy speaker to live with or a strong recommendation, but there is stiff competition at the ~$6k–$10k price band and some note price sensitivity. Overall very good value but not an unbeatable bargain.
