Focal Theva N°3-D

The reviewer describes bass instruments as tight, nicely balanced and rendered with pleasing scale. The most extreme low-frequency effects in this review are supported by the matching subwoofer, so they should not be attributed solely to the N°3-D floorstanders.

The Theva presentation is described as having a precise midrange, with instruments rendered realistically in dense mixes. Vocal reproduction across the system is also praised for clarity and natural integration with the rest of the mix.

Treble is characterised as mellow, clean and free of sibilance, suggesting a forgiving but refined balance. The reviewer does note that the system gives up a small degree of forensic detail, limiting its appeal for listeners seeking an overtly analytical sound.

The review praises a fuller, cohesive soundstage, with effects moving smoothly between speakers and no obvious shifts in timbre. Its strongest imaging observations concern the complete multichannel package, where it creates an enveloping and precisely steered spatial presentation.

Complex film mixes are said to retain control and definition, while drums and other instruments carry satisfying scale and impact. The review also describes a visceral, engaging presentation during demanding action scenes, though the system subwoofer contributes to the largest effects.

The reviewer calls overall build quality excellent and says it looks appropriate to the asking price. Finish quality, the understated grille-on appearance and the unusually substantial, comfortable binding posts receive specific praise.

Across the listed $1,799-$3,198 market pricing, the review says the excellent construction and attractive finishes reflect the asking price. It does not make a direct comparison with similarly priced floorstanding rivals or offer a stronger value verdict.
