MoFi Electronics SourcePoint 8 Loudspeakers [Pair]
SOURCEPOINT 8
The SourcePoint 8 was carefully crafted the speaker to embody the same acoustic DNA as the widely acclaimed SourcePoint 10. The new SourcePoint 8 packs the same sonic excellence of its larger sibling into a more compact and manageable form factor.
Andrew Jones and the team at MoFi Electronics scaled down the SourcePoint 10 to create a new speaker that can fit into a wider range of spaces, all while still delivering that big, satisfying sound that we know and love.
“Everyone who hears and loves the sound of the 10-inch, but can’t fit them in their room, now has that sonic quality available in a much smaller package.”
- Andrew Jones, Chief Loudspeaker Designer
THE 8-INCH CONCENTRIC DRIVER.
Boasting a custom-tooled eight-inch concentric driver and 1.25-inch soft-dome tweeter, this speaker offers a point-source system that delivers impeccable control, tonal balance, and precise imaging. The woofer cone acts as a waveguide for the tweeter, maximizing the tweeter efficiency and matching directivities.
Whether you prefer relaxing, acoustic tunes, or more aggressive and electric music, the SourcePoint 8 delivers outstanding performance that will touch your soul and inspire your emotions. It conveys recordings with exceptional detail, specificity, and cleanliness while also delivering the meatiness, liveliness, and range of a much larger speaker.
Twin-Drive High-Flux Magnet System
The SourcePoint 8 delivers exceptional performance thanks to its innovative Twin-Drive high-flux neodymium magnet system. We didn't just optimize the woofer and tweeter's frequency response, we also prioritized reducing distortion in the motor structure of the drive unit. By designing the motor to minimize distortions, we've ensured that the system generates minimal additional frequencies beyond the original signal.
The Twin-Drive system creates a fully symmetrical magnetic field, resulting in extremely low intermodulation distortion (IMD) and a pure, accurate sound.
The SourcePoint series represents a tour-de-force in design and engineering. Offering the same level of sonic excellence as its larger sibling, the SourcePoint 8 is a versatile and manageable package that is sure to delight audiophiles of all stripes. Its outstanding performance, elegant design, and exceptional engineering make it a worthy addition to any music lover's listening room.
MULTI-FACETED BAFFLE
The front baffle is the launch point for your speaker driver. It needs to be strong and free of sound reflection. The SoucePoint 8 uses a sculpted baffle with multiple facets to eliminate diffraction. All you hear is the smooth and even response of the driver, not the sound of the cabinet.
EASY TO USE MAGNETIC GRILLS
It’s quick and easy to make your SourcePoint speakers more discrete for casual listening. The fabric-wrapped grills attach magnetically and are perfectly form-fitting to retain the profile of the distinguished multi-faceted baffle. For the highest performance, we recommend removing the grills while listening.
THREE FANTASTIC FINISHES
You can choose the warmth and richness of Satin Walnut, the stealthy professional look of Satin Black Ash, or the all-new sleek Satin White Ash - exclusive SourcePoint 8. SourcePoint 8 uses furniture-grade real wood veneer that is book matched for mirror-imaged grain patterns on both of your speakers. The SourcePoints offers a unique combination of modern and classic style which suits a wide variety of interiors.

The SourcePoint 8 turns its concentric architecture into pinpoint imaging, richly weighted vocals and rhythmic, full-bodied bass that feels far bigger than a standmount. The Ear admired its coherence and pacing, while Andrew Robinson found its holographic staging exceptional. With a capable amplifier and careful positioning, this neutral-yet-engaging speaker brings compact-room listening vivid scale and musical flow.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Pros
Exceptionally precise, stable imaging with a deep, focused soundstage and strong instrument placement.
Coherent, immediate presentation with natural vocal weight, engaging rhythm and lucid handling of complex mixes.
Substantial, textured and well-timed bass for a standmount, delivering satisfying punch in small to medium rooms.
Solidly engineered cabinet with real-wood veneer, internal bracing and a thick sculpted baffle.
&
Cons
Does not reach the deepest bass octave; a subwoofer is advisable for truly full-range playback.
Treble can sound bright or slightly hard with direct on-axis setup, demanding material or very high playback levels.
The stage favors focus and intimacy over an especially expansive, airy presentation.
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 90/100
The SourcePoint 8 is consistently described as a coherent, engaging and natural-sounding standmount with unusually strong image focus and a full, immediate presentation. Its character favors musical flow, tonal density and involvement over the last word in forensic treble detail or stadium-scale spaciousness.
Bass
89/100
For an 8-inch vented standmount, reviewers repeatedly found the bass punchy, textured, fast and unusually substantial, with Hi-Fi News noting surprising punch for its compact cabinet. It does not reach the lowest octave and several reviewers recommend a subwoofer for full-range reproduction, but its control, timing and tonal detail are widely praised.
Mid
92/100
Vocals and acoustic instruments are a major strength: reviewers describe voices as thick, natural, intimate, sweet and realistically weighted. The presentation is generally neutral-to-warm and highly coherent, though a few listeners found the lower midrange a little lean or the vocal region more incisive than their preference.
Treble
87/100
The treble is commonly heard as clear, smooth and detailed rather than overtly aggressive, with good off-axis behavior helping it remain listenable over long sessions. However, several reviews note that direct on-axis setup or demanding material can sound bright or hard, while others hear less air and ultimate resolution than leading rivals.
Soundstage Imaging
92/100
Precise, stable and holographic imaging is among the most consistently praised qualities, with The Ear reporting pin-sharp placement and a deep, focused stage. The soundstage is more controlled and intimate than exceptionally expansive, and careful positioning, toe-in and listening height help realize its best center focus.
Dynamics
88/100
Reviewers praise the speaker's pace, rhythmic drive and ability to keep complex music lucid, describing it as lively and engaging at normal listening levels. It has useful headroom for a compact speaker, but can lose some cleanliness or harden when pushed very loudly and benefits from a capable amplifier.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
91/100
The cabinet is widely regarded as sturdy and thoughtfully engineered, using substantial MDF construction, internal bracing and a thick, sculpted front baffle. Reviews also praise the real-wood veneer options, solid overall finish and the diffraction-conscious baffle design.
Value for Money
90/100
At $2,195 per pair, the SourcePoint 8 is not inexpensive, but reviewers frequently regard it as highly competitive against alternatives in and above its class. Listening panels called it high value for money, while AudioAdvice described it as hard to beat for the price; prospective buyers should still budget for sturdy stands and, if deep bass is essential, a subwoofer.
