What Hi-Fi says it gives the impression of a generously sized floorstander, while TONEAudio praises its lower-frequency extension and resolution; StereoNET notes a little low-bass bloom and plumpness, and very high-volume bass-heavy material can overwhelm it.

The midrange is widely praised for its openness, texture and coherence. StereoNET found vocals and guitar particularly strong, while TONEAudio heard enough instrumental texture to make the speaker seem substantially larger and more expensive.

Treble is described as extended, open, airy and detailed, with good separation and refinement. Several reviewers note a slightly forward balance, but not one that becomes harsh or strident; TONEAudio found aftermarket jumpers could add a further touch of high-frequency smoothness.

Soundstaging is a standout strength. Reviewers describe a vast, three-dimensional field with strong depth, precise image placement, clear layering and the ability to project sounds convincingly beyond the cabinet boundaries.

The F500SP can play loudly and delivers real punch, transient speed and convincing drum impact for its size. However, What Hi-Fi finds it less adept at the quieter, more nuanced shifts in intensity than leading competitors, even as other reviewers praise its energy and propulsive timing.

The cabinet, finishes and detailing receive repeated praise. Reviewers call the finish exquisite and superb, highlighting the lustrous veneer, curved cabinetry, aluminium trim and substantial BassTrax base assembly; the UK-made presentation is regarded as notably polished.

At roughly $1,995 per pair in the US and £1,500-£1,725 in the UK, reviewers generally consider the F500SP highly competitive among premium standmounts. TONEAudio calls it a “mega value” and gave it an Exceptional Value Award, while What Hi-Fi's more qualified view is that rival speakers offer a little more all-round sophistication at this level.
