Magico M3

View at Magico

In 2014 the introduction of the limited edition M-Project provided a glimpse of the cutting edge designs and advanced technologies that were being developed at Magico. Over the past two years intense research has been dedicated to exploring new methodologies and materials which are now incorporated in the Magico M3.

A new carbon fiber side panel design, an all-graphene midrange and bass driver design, and the phenomenal 28mm diamond coated beryllium tweeter, previously found only in the M-Project, all come together in what is the most sophisticated loudspeaker we have ever created.

Enclosure

An internal three-axis matrix framework in the M3 contributes to an extremely rigid enclosure and eliminates unwanted resonances and colorations, allowing all drivers to perform with stunning resolution and dynamics.

The M3 midrange driver operates in a purpose built sub-enclosure made of a proprietary polymer that enhances midrange control and articulation. This sub-enclosure concept was first used in the S3 and is now applied to our more recent 3-way speaker designs.

Tweeter & Drivers

The M3 incorporates the Diamond coated Beryllium diaphragm tweeter (28-mm) used in the MPro. The optimized geometry and the Diamond coating on the Beryllium aligns the acoustical properties closer to perfection without adding extra weight of a full Diamond dome, this revolutionary tweeter design offers a near perfect weight to stiffness ratio that is unmatched in the industry. The new tweeter provides extra-long excursion movement and uses a neodymium based motor system that is customized to match the sensitivity and power handling capabilities of the M3 while maintaining ultra-wide dispersion characteristics and ultra-low distortion measurements.

Magico is the world’s first manufacturer to utilize graphene in the development of a radically new and advanced loudspeaker cone design. Graphene has many extraordinary properties and is approximately 100 times stronger than the strongest steel. The newly designed Magico six-inch midrange and seven-inch bass driver cones found in the M3 are both manufactured using Multi-Wall carbon XG Nanographene and an ultra-stiff proprietary new carbon weave which is 20% lighter and 300% stiffer than previous cone material we used in Magico loudspeaker offerings.

MPod

A contributing element to the stunning overall sound performance of the M3 is the application of the MPOD. The MPOD is based on the scientific principles of Constrained Layer Damping (CLD) which are well documented and in our opinion, the most effective way to channel unwanted vibrations away from a component and its platform.

Operating under massive weight the MPOD is a noise channeling system that effectively dissipates resonance while maintaining ultimate coupling properties to the floor resulting in remarkable sonic results. M3’s ordered with the MPOD 3-Pt Stand come with a beautifully appointed case that includes six MPOD’s and a professional grade torque wrench that allows for periodic maintenance of the internal tension rods.

Deliciously Crispy

The Magico M3 delivers reference-class accuracy and staggering dynamics, driven by a diamond-coated beryllium tweeter and graphene mid/woofers that yield finely detailed treble, coherent mids, and weighty, controlled bass. Its hulking, precision-built cabinet and high sensitivity provide authoritative staging and low-end control, making the M3 a flagship performer for serious systems and big rooms.

Audiophilepure (author: Audiophilepure)

"Obviously the M3 gets my highest recommendation. It is as good a dynamic loudspeaker as you can buy."

Pros

  • Reference-class accuracy and natural midrange timbre, delivering realistic, highly detailed presentation.
  • Outstanding dynamics and slam with controlled, deep bass from the triple 7" graphene woofers.
  • Flagship build and advanced driver technology (diamond-coated beryllium tweeter, graphene drivers) produce refined treble and exceptional cabinet engineering.

Bass

95/100

Triple 7" graphene woofers and large cabinet imply reference-class low-end. Review calls the speakers 'one of the most accurate and realistic transducers' and praises overall authority and dynamics, supporting very strong bass extension and control for a flagship tower.

Mid

96/100

Review repeatedly highlights realism and accuracy ('one of the most accurate and realistic transducers'), indicating outstanding midrange timbre and presence. The dedicated 6" graphene midrange driver supports coherent, highly detailed mid-band performance.

Treble

94/100

Diamond-coated beryllium dome tweeter and reviewer comments about overall resolution imply extended, refined treble without harshness. No reviewer complaints about brightness were noted; treble judged highly resolved and controlled.

Soundstage Imaging

95/100

Reviewer calls the M3 'one of the most accurate and realistic' speakers and gives highest recommendation, which supports excellent imaging, width and depth. Macroscopic staging and precise imaging are consistent with Magico flagship behavior described.

Dynamics

96/100

Reviewer explicitly states 'It is as good a dynamic loudspeaker as you can buy,' supporting top-tier micro/macro dynamics and slam. High sensitivity (91 dB) and wide recommended power range indicate strong headroom potential.

Build Quality

97/100

Flagship materials (diamond-coated beryllium, graphene drivers) and hefty mass (320 lbs) imply exceptional cabinet engineering and component quality. Reviewer's overall endorsement and Magico's design choices support near-reference build quality.

Features Connectivity

80/100

Passive floorstanding baseline applied. No bi-wire/contour features listed in provided specs; passive baseline fixed score used per guidelines.

Value for Money

74/100

At a $94,000 price point the reviewer notes 'they are for the wealthy,' indicating premium pricing versus typical value. Performance is outstanding, but extreme cost reduces value-for-money for most buyers.
