The Shape of Genius.
Hyphn is unlike anything Monitor Audio, or anyone else, has ever created. A statement of a flagship loudspeaker, conceived and engineered upon an R&D philosophy of maintaining a balance between design and technology, that we call our Transparent Design Philosophy.
Revolutionising what is achievable for high-end home audio, Hyphn features the 3rd generation, Micro Pleated Diaphragm (MPD III) high frequency transducer at the centre of the M-Array. A breakthrough in high- and mid-frequency transducer technology, it provides an acoustic and physical link to the twin bass cabinets that sit either side of it, and contain four force-cancelled 8” bass drivers, capable of delivering impressive levels of tight, impactful bass.
The result of five decades of knowledge and innovation, Hyphn delivers a dramatically enhanced listening experience, with a visually striking presence.

Built as Monitor Audio's radical flagship, the Hyphn opens with remarkable coherence and lightning-fast bass from its force‑cancelling woofer array and uncanny midrange clarity via the M‑Array, placing vocals and microdetail front and centre. Reviewers from HiFi News and Fidelity Magazine also note an expansive, crisply focused soundstage and rock‑solid construction.
Pros
- Deep, tight and authoritative low end driven by the force‑cancelling 4×8" woofer array — fast attack, high SPL and controlled decay.
- Exceptionally coherent, highly resolved midrange and imaging from the M‑Array — vocals and microdetail are precise, natural and well‑placed in the soundstage.
- Exceptionally rigid, vibration‑free cabinet engineering and carefully decoupled crossover work that preserve clarity and reduce cabinet coloration.

Cons
- Modest 86dB sensitivity and 4Ω nominal impedance mean the Hyphn benefits from powerful, high‑current amplification to reach its best performance.
- Ultra‑high price places it firmly in the niche super‑high‑end bracket — performance-justified for many reviewers but prohibitive for most buyers.
- Some reviewers noted a noticeable break‑in period, with the top end opening up after the first ~48 hours of play.

Bass
96/100
Reference-class low end: multiple reviews note deep extension to the high teens (in-room ~18Hz), 25Hz port tuning, force-cancelled 4x8" woofer array and authoritative, tightly controlled, fast bass with concussive macro impact (TED Publications, hi‑fi+, HiFi News, Fidelity). Reviewers describe visceral, room‑shaking authority without cabinet resonance.
Mid
95/100
Consistently praised midband clarity and timbral accuracy: reviewers call vocals intimate, detailed and natural with seamless crossover integration (hi‑fi+, HiFi News, StereoNET). The M‑Array's multi‑driver approach yields exceptional coherence and insight.
Treble
94/100
MPD III tweeter delivers refined, extended and detailed top end with air and fine harmonic definition (hi‑fi+, StereoNET, TED Publications). One reviewer noted initial mild roll‑in until break‑in, but overall treble is controlled and non‑harsh.
Soundstage Imaging
95/100
Large, well‑focused and deeply layered soundstage: multiple reviewers reported images floating beyond the speakers with precise left/right and front/back placement thanks to the M‑Array (TED Publications, hi‑fi+, Sound Advice).
Dynamics
96/100
Exceptional micro and macro dynamics with high headroom; reviewers describe concussive punch, orchestral scale and composure at high levels (TED Publications, hi‑fi+, HiFi News, StereoNET). Retains clarity at both low and extreme volumes.

Build Quality
96/100
Engineered, heavy acrylic‑mineral cabinets (~107kg each) with integrated bracing, force‑cancelled bass layout and decoupled crossover; finish and construction repeatedly described as extremely rigid and inert (HiFi News, Sound Advice, Fidelity).
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive 3‑way floorstander: standard passive connectivity baseline applied. Reviews note low sensitivity (86dB) and 4Ω nominal impedance, requiring high‑current amplification but no specialised DSP or app features.
Value for Money
86/100
Very expensive (~£70k / pair, ~€82.5k) but reviewers consistently say the price is justified by performance in its competitive bracket; not a bargain but strong value for its ambition and capability (hi‑fi+, StereoNET, Fidelity).
