The Q Concerto Meta HiFi speaker is the largest in our Q Series bookshelf speaker collection. Paying tribute to the original 1969 Concerto, which was our first 3-way standmount speaker, this modernised version delivers professional high-end audio quality. Thanks to its 3-way design and Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™), this wired speaker is sure to deliver high-fidelity performance.

Nicely Roasted

The KEF Q Concerto Meta impresses with extended, authoritative bass that belies its compact standmount footprint, driven by a dedicated bass unit and ported tuning. Its 12th‑gen Uni‑Q with MAT yields smooth mids, clean treble and a wide soundstage; Paul Sechi and What Hi‑Fi? praise its integration and value for money.

What Hi-Fi

"KEF’s Q Concerto Meta are grown-up all-rounders that deliver a top-class performance for the money"

Pros

  • Impressively extended, authoritative bass for a compact standmounter, giving tight low-end weight and reach beyond its size.
  • Uni‑Q plus MAT deliver excellent driver integration with smooth mids, clean treble and a wide, stable listening sweet spot.
  • Solid build and finish paired with class-leading performance for the price make it a strong value proposition in its segment.

&

Cons

  • Relatively low sensitivity (85 dB) and 4 Ω nominal impedance mean these speakers benefit from a powerful, current‑capable amplifier.
  • Strong competition in the class (e.g., LS50 Meta, PMC Prodigy 1) — rivals may outpace it in certain refinement or dynamic snap.

Sound Quality

90/100

Bass

90/100

6.5" LF driver in a ported three-way yields authoritative low end. Multiple reviews call out 'impressive bass weight and power', 'extended, deep bass' and a typical in-room -6dB around 36 Hz, giving it excellent low-frequency extension and grip for its size.

Mid

90/100

Reviewers consistently praise a smooth, balanced midband and strong vocal presence: 'clear and fast midband', 'excellent vocal handling' and 'superbly balanced performer' indicate natural timbre and good integration with the Uni-Q middriver.

Treble

89/100

Treble is described as clean, smooth and well-extended with MAT damping behind the vented aluminium dome. Commentaries note refined highs with enough bite but no significant harshness or sibilance.

Soundstage Imaging

91/100

KEF's Uni-Q driver yields a wide, stable sweet spot and convincing layering: reviewers mention a 'considerably wider listening sweet spot', 'broad and high' soundstage and precise imaging when positioned carefully.

Dynamics

87/100

Speakers deliver good punch and pace with 'improved punch and definition' and solid handling of orchestral peaks; not the most explosively dynamic in the class (some competitors offer greater rhythmic snap) but very capable and composed.

Build Quality

90/100

Well-built enclosure with internal bracing and neat finishes. Reviews cite solid cabinet construction, effective internal partitioning and generally high assembly quality consistent with KEF standards.

Features Connectivity

81/100

Passive single-pair binding posts baseline applied (80) plus +1 for supplied two-stage foam port bungs to aid placement; rear-firing port and typical 4Ω/85dB electrical demands noted. No DSP/streaming expected for a passive bookshelf.

Value for Money

90/100

Multiple reviewers call it a strong offering for the price ('top-class performance for the money', 'exceptional value' at MSRP ~$1,299–1,399). Deserves audition among peers though pricings cited vary by market.
