Triangle Comète Ez
Hi-Fi Bookshelf Speaker - Comète EZ
The Comete is one of the most famous and appreciated Triangle speakers in the Hi-Fi industry and the latest Ez Generation justifies this reputation. The Comete Ez is renowned for its incredible performance throughout the lower frequencies.
Its 16cm (6,5 inch), 100% natural paper cone mid-woofer provides a wide sound stage and powerful basses. The high frequencies are reproduced by Triangle’s famous horn loaded, giving a lot of efficiency and dynamism to the speaker.
This loudspeaker provides a similar listening experience to a floorstander without taking up the space. Using a dedicated speaker stand (ex: S02) is recommended for optimum sound quality.
The Comète Ez is the perfect speaker for those looking at a high-performance speaker with powerful and a reasonable footprint. It is ideally suited for rooms with a surface between 15 and 30m2.
Musicality & Design
ESPRIT Ez offers music lovers lively and dynamic sound without compromise. Rediscover the emotion of your first listens and let yourself be surprised by the thrill of the ESPRIT Ez range.
The latest vintage from ESPRIT brings a major innovation in the midrange driver for surprising sound realism. It also incorporates an improvement to its famous horn tweeter and optimizes its fiberglass bass drivers for even greater speed and transparency.
TWEETER TZ2550
A real TRIANGLE trademark of technology and performance, the TZ2510, is the latest incarnation of a titanium dome in combination with a compression chamber. This technology provides high efficiency with low distortion and excellent directivity.
Made out of 100% natural cellulose paper, white membrane is used to avoid any coloration. It is combined with a small pleat peripheral suspension to increase the emissive surface area.
Midrange driver
Special attention has been paid to a number of details in the development of the midrange: the profile of the membrane, the shape of the suspension, and the new dust cap, are directly inspired from the MAGELLAN project.
WOOFER
Fiberglass was selected for its excellent affect on the lower midrange / higher bass.An ESPRIT Ez innovation is the overlay of textile material and fiberglass, which improves the rigidity of the membrane. The speaker is equipped with a new chassis, which quickly dissolves the heat generated by the coil.

Cons
At lower listening levels with the Parasound pairing, it was less expressive than some alternatives.
Treble presentation is somewhat forward, so amplifier matching may matter for listeners sensitive to upper-frequency energy.
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 93/100
The Comète Ez is described as an energetic yet composed standmount, combining unusually substantial low frequencies for its size with a natural, richly textured midrange. Its forward-looking treble presentation remains controlled rather than harsh, while wide staging, strong layering and lively dynamic expression make it especially engaging with energetic and well-recorded music.
Bass
93/100
The 6.5-inch midwoofer is said to deliver surprisingly deep, tight and muscular bass for a compact bass-reflex speaker. The reviewer found that it stayed controlled with bass-heavy music, without muddiness or audible port noise, and repeatedly reached lower than expected for its size.
Mid
94/100
The midrange is a standout, described as exceptionally natural, nuanced and convincingly detailed. Voices and instruments reportedly carry realistic texture, useful body weight and tonal richness, while dense recordings remain cohesive and layered.
Treble
92/100
Treble is projected with confidence, speed and a live-music-like immediacy. Although the upper range is somewhat forward, it is described as musical rather than artificially bright, and the titanium horn tweeter reportedly remains free of harshness even at elevated levels.
Soundstage Imaging
92/100
The speakers are reported to create a wide, expansive stage with strong layering and immersive wraparound imaging. The review also notes convincing retrieval of recorded ambience, including the resonant acoustic character of a classical venue.
Dynamics
91/100
At higher playback levels, the Comète Ez is said to become notably rhythmic and dynamically enthusiastic. Its unrestricted swings and ability to make transient sounds leap from the speakers give this compact design a particularly animated character.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
92/100
The cabinet finish and overall detailing impressed the reviewer at the asking price. Reported hardware includes a brushed-satin aluminium terminal plate, locking copper binding posts, custom crossover components and oxygen-free copper internal cabling, while both drivers are manufactured by Triangle.
Value for Money
95/100
At $1,400 for the standard finishes, the reviewer calls the Comète Ez a bargain and considers its accuracy and transparency competitive with a $4,000 pair of PMC twenty.22 reference speakers. That comparison suggests unusually strong performance relative to similarly priced and more expensive standmount alternatives.
