Acoustic Energy AE300
The AE300² is an all-new compact stand-mount loudspeaker suitable for small to medium sized rooms. Featuring new cabinet design and drivers, performance has been considerably improved in all areas whilst maintaining the same competitive pricing as the previous model.
The AE300² utilises brand-new paper/coconut-fibre bass-mid drivers which were developed using research derived from the CORINIUM project. These drivers, along with an all-new soft dome tweeter are housed in an inert, slimline 18mm constrained-layer RSC™ MDF/bitumen cabinet – offering a significant step up in both audio and material quality at this price point. The slot shaped duct port on the rear of the speaker augments the bass output and has been carefully developed to reduce the effect of air turbulence with a clean, undistorted bass performance.
The cabinet is available in a choice of walnut or newly developed ‘silk-touch’ matte black or white finishes featuring screen-printed logos with trims and grilles which are colour matched for each finish. The new AE300² will easily integrate within any home décor when placed on speaker stands or bookshelves.

Smooth, velvety midrange meets surprisingly deep, tight bass in the AE300, delivering an engaging yet refined presentation that belies its compact footprint. Reviewers like David Price and The Ear Editor praise its lively dynamics, low cabinet noise and wide soundstage, a compact speaker that pairs musicality with punch.
Pros
- Smooth, detailed midrange and clear vocals—voices are described as neutral, natural and 'velvety' for the price.
- Surprisingly deep, tight and well-controlled bass for a compact stand‑mount, with confident extension and minimal boom.
- Wide, well-defined soundstage and convincing imaging—projects bigger than its cabinet size with good instrument layering.
- Solid build and unusually inert cabinet construction for the segment (RSC/composite or heavy‑damped enclosures) that keeps cabinet noise low.

Cons
- Modest 86dB sensitivity and a 6Ω nominal impedance mean the speaker can sound less effortless on low‑power or low‑current amplifiers.
- Treble is smooth and non‑fatiguing but lacks the utmost refinement and high‑frequency sparkle some listeners expect.
- Supplied grilles and rear connectors feel budget‑grade compared with the otherwise high‑quality finish.

Bass
90/100
Multiple reviews praise 'surprisingly deep' and 'more bass than you might imagine' for the compact AE300, with confident, tight and percussive delivery. The speaker uses a rear slot port and a 120mm driver, and reviewers repeatedly note impressive extension 'for its size' and agility without boom.
Mid
91/100
Consistently described as smooth, velvety and clean: reviewers compare its midband to much pricier monitors and praise vocal clarity and neutrality. Comments include 'broadcast monitor' level speech performance and 'velvety midband' that 'refuses to shout'.
Treble
89/100
Treble is repeatedly called smooth, sweet and well controlled, with excellent transient capture on cymbals though one reviewer notes a touch less refinement in absolute terms. Overall the top end is unfatiguing and tasteful rather than aggressively detailed.
Soundstage Imaging
90/100
Reviews report a wide, well-defined and surprisingly tall/deep soundstage for the cabinet size, with good instrument placement and convincing venue sense. Several reviewers note toe-in improves focus but the AE300 still projects a spacious image.
Dynamics
86/100
Drivers are described as fast and animated with lively percussion and good micro-dynamics; reviewers also note the speakers trade some visceral slam for a more relaxed, composed character and may ask for more power to reach maximum impact.
