Value for Money

85/100

Cambridge Audio’s Edge M delivers effortless dynamics and clean, low-strain authority for demanding loudspeakers. Its fully balanced monoblock architecture, 200W output and twin-toroidal design maintain composed, consistent tonality when levels rise. The Ear highlights its more faithful, lower-distortion presentation, while the sculpted aluminium chassis brings suitably premium presence.

What Reviewers Are Saying

"delivers more effortless dynamics and a less strained sound, as well as less distortion per channel and between the channels"

— The Ear

Pros

Effortless, high-power dynamics with notably low strain at elevated listening levels.

Clean, faithful sound with reduced distortion per channel and between channels.

Premium minimal construction with a curved extruded-aluminium front, floating top plate and interference-rejecting twin toroidal transformers.

Flexible balanced and unbalanced connectivity within a fully balanced input-to-output design.

SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 87/100

The supplied review characterises the Edge M as cleaner, more faithful and less distorted than the stereo Edge W, with a notably effortless presentation at higher levels. It is especially well supported on dynamic ease and low-distortion clarity; tonal personality and spatial presentation receive less direct discussion.

Transparency Resolution

89/100

The Ear reports a cleaner sound, less distortion per channel and between channels, and a more faithful overall presentation. Those observations point to strong clarity and composure, although the review does not go deeply into fine-detail retrieval or ambience cues.

Tonal Balance Musicality

85/100

The review describes consistent tonality even at loud volumes and a more faithful sound, suggesting an even-handed, controlled character. It offers little direct comment on timbre, warmth, tonal colour or long-term listening character.

Dynamics

93/100

Dynamic ability is the clearest strength in the supplied coverage. The Ear specifically hears more effortless dynamics, less strain and greater power delivery than the stereo model, all backed by the monoblock's 200W into 8 ohms and 350W into 4 ohms rating.

Soundstage Imaging

81/100

Lower distortion between channels and fully balanced operation may support stable separation, but the review does not directly assess stage width, depth, image focus or layering. There is therefore limited listener evidence about the Edge M's spatial performance.

Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.

Build Quality

91/100

The Edge M combines a substantial 23.6kg chassis, curved extruded-aluminium front and floating top plate with a fully balanced signal path. Its opposing-symmetry twin-toroidal transformer arrangement is explicitly designed to reject electromagnetic interference while maintaining power and tonal consistency at volume; balanced and unbalanced inputs plus balanced and unbalanced loop outputs add useful system flexibility.

Value for Money

85/100

At £3,999 / $4,000 / €4,499, the Edge M sits in a premium monoblock category and brings high output, balanced architecture and specialised transformer engineering. The supplied review states the price but does not compare its performance or ownership proposition with competing amplifiers.
