Creating a masterpiece
The main cabinet itself weighs 65 kg and is a solidly cast aluminium cabinet in which no less than 18 drivers pointing in different directions have been placed. The cabinet is then clad in an elastic and semi- transparent fabric that lets you have a glimpse of all the drivers.
Extremely complex aluminium cabinet
The main cabinet weighs 65 kg and is cast in solid aluminium, providing a rock-solid structure for holding the four woofers and the electronics.
Craftsmanship and quality
Every single Beolab 90 loudspeaker produced is meticulously tested in our custom-built anechoic chamber. Craft and quality are pivotal to the production of BeoLab 90.
Sculpted aluminium crowns
The crowns are crafted from solid aluminium rods, pulled, stretched, anodised, and polished to accentuate the unique suspension of the fabric covers.

BeoLab 90 is defined by its commanding low-frequency authority, driven by multiple large woofers and dedicated amplifiers, while its DSP-driven beam control and adaptive room compensation deliver startlingly precise imaging across big listening areas. With exhaustive I/O and high-resolution wireless options, it blends raw power, refined resolution and contemporary flexibility into an ultra-luxury speaker that rewards serious system investment.
Pros
- Authoritative, deep bass and very high SPL capability from multiple large woofers paired with dedicated high-current amplification.
- Exceptionally precise imaging and controllable directivity via Beam Direction/Beam Width control and Adaptive Room Compensation for stable staging across listening positions.
- Class-leading connectivity and modern wireless options (WiSA, Wireless Power Link) plus extensive digital and balanced inputs for versatile system integration.

Cons
- Ultra-high MSRP positions the BeoLab 90 as a halo, limiting value for all but the most committed buyers.
Sound Quality
94/100
Bass
94/100
Quad-large-woofer complement (3x10" Discovery + 1x13" Revelator per speaker), dedicated high-current amplifiers and <12 Hz extension indicate exceptional low-frequency authority and extension for large rooms. Score reflects near-reference bass extension, weight and control without in-room listening reports; reserved a point below top reference ceiling due to absence of independent listening reviews.
Mid
93/100
Seven 4.5" Scan-Speak Illuminator mid drivers per speaker with dedicated ICEpower amplification promise extraordinarily coherent, detailed and forward midrange. Score reflects expected timbral accuracy and crossover integration from the multi-driver design and active DSP but lacks corroborating critical listening excerpts.
Treble
93/100
Seven 1" Scan-Speak Illuminator tweeters and spec'd >43 kHz response indicate superb extension, air and resolution. DSP-driven beam control should prevent brightness on-axis while delivering detail; high score tempered slightly by the lack of external reviewer comments about top-end fineness.
Soundstage Imaging
94/100
Advanced Beam Direction and Beam Width control plus Active Room Compensation point to extraordinary control of image width, depth and stability across listening positions. The speaker’s steered-beam capability supports excellent layering and placement but external room tests are not available to fully confirm ultimate imaging limits.
Dynamics
94/100
Massive per-driver dedicated amplification (ICEpower and Heliox modules) and 126 dB SPL per pair capability imply powerful micro- and macro-dynamics with large headroom. Score assumes the electronics and DSP maintain transient control; absence of reviewer notes about 'running out of steam' supports a high mark.

Build Quality
95/100
Heavy, high-end materials (aluminium, wood, fabric), 137 kg per speaker and designer Noto GmbH suggest exceptional cabinet engineering and finish. Internal amplification and bespoke driver sets support premium crossover and component quality; top-tier craftsmanship earns a near-maximum score.
Features Connectivity
98/100
Extensive I/O (XLR, USB-B, Optical, S/PDIF, Power Link), WiSA and Wireless Power Link, plus onboard adaptive bass linearization and advanced room compensation give class-leading feature depth. Score reflects a comprehensive modern active speaker connectivity and DSP feature set.
Value for Money
66/100
Technically outstanding but priced as a halo/ultra-high-end product (listed ~211,800), limiting value for most buyers; exceptional engineering but very narrow market and steep price-to-performance ratio compared with high-end peers.
