The ground-breaking Aspen series of loudspeakers sets new standards for what is possible in home audio reproduction. Now, with the introduction of our most compact loudspeaker yet, the FR10, it is finally possible to bring the magic of Aspens into everyone’s home.

The Aspen loudspeaker series represents the culmination of 50 years of industry experience; learning in intimate detail what works and what does not; what it takes for a loudspeaker to disappear and leave only the magic of the music; designing a no-compromise phase-correct crossover; constructing a cabinet that does not color the sound; crafting a speaker that is easily driven with any decent power amplifier, and when not even the most advanced driver manufacturer’s products are good enough to meet our exacting standards, designing woofers, radiators, tweeters, and midranges from scratch. In all respects, the FR10 will transcend your expectations of what a small floor-standing loudspeaker can do.

No longer do you have to compromise.

Breathtaking to listen to, beautiful to behold, fits in any size room, with bass that will astound you, the Aspen FR10 is a dream come true.

A no compromise affordable loudspeaker

The Aspen FR10 loudspeaker is a full range, state-of-the-art loudspeaker that fits into all rooms and budgets. With room-filling, extraordinarily low bass response down to 30Hz, the Aspen FR10 employs the same planar ribbon technology as its larger counterparts but in a smaller and more affordable package. If you're serious about high-end audio, then the FR10 may just be the perfect speaker for you. Come learn more about this extraordinary loudspeaker.

Setup in minutes

The FR10s arrive at your front door through conventional carriers like UPS and FedEx. Learn how easy it is to unpack and set up these wonderful speakers in just a few minutes.

Design

The FR10 joins the ranks of a rare handful of true full-range speakers that can honestly cover the frequency range of 30Hz to beyond 20kHz with grace, dynamics, slam, and low distortion—and work in any small to medium-sized room. Within moments of installing your new Aspen FR10 loudspeakers, you'll instantly be transported to a new level of musical ecstacy. What's captured on the disc is exactly what you'll hear with a greater resolution than most have ever experienced. Grace, beauty, PRaT, power, and a musicality that is rare amongst 6 figure offerings from other manufacturers await owners of the Aspen FR10. That this speaker is financially within reach of many makes it a miracle.

Application

Loudspeakers are part of the family. With their presence, they grace our homes and living areas by bringing the joy of music into our lives. Unlike the electronics that drive them, to perform their best most loudspeakers depend on proper placement and optimized room parameters. The Aspen FR10, however, is designed to more easily fit into any living environment and perform at their best with a minimum of setup hassles and a maximum of options. While the FR10, like all high-performance speakers, appreciates some breathing room between them and the front wall, placement in the room for best performance is a snap. Using the included step-by-step guide and CD, setup, from unboxing to playing music, happens easily in a few short hours.

Technology

By far the most important piece in the HiFi chain is the loudspeaker. If the speaker cannot reproduce what it is fed from the electronic chain, the missing musical information is forever lost. To achieve all that music demands, over the years, loudspeaker designers have tried to leverage every trick in the book: electrostats for details, conventional drivers for dynamics, planars for transparency, ribbons, domes, horns, open baffles, bipoles, dipoles. The list is endless and the choices and their inevitable sonic compromises daunting. With close to 50 years under our collective belts, we at PS Audio determined to design the perfect loudspeaker for every application, room size, and budgets. In the Aspen series we start with the FR30, then move to the FR20 and then the FR10. Each is a full range state-of-the-art loudspeaker that covers the range of possibilities from small to large rooms and to meet every budget need. The FR10 will fit into every small to medium sized room and provide room-shaking bass down to 30Hz. For the upper end, the FR10 employs the same Aspen planar tweeter as found in both the FR20 and FR30. For our legendary open midrange, the FR10 relies upon the same planar technology as found in its bigger counterparts. Without question, the Aspen FR10 is the perfect loudspeaker for any room and budget.

The heart and soul of any loudspeaker are its drivers, the transducers that in response to the amplifier's demands pressurize the air and generate the music. Each driver must be optimized for the task at hand. In the FR10, it quickly became apparent we could not source from even the most advanced driver manufacturers in the world the ultra-low-distortion high-dynamic output drivers we would need to build the FR10. We started with our tweeter and midrange for here are the two most difficult drivers to perfect. Moving air at high frequencies without colorations or distortion is a daunting task. On the FR10 we chose to go with a technology that has the speed of an electrostat with the dynamics of a cone. Planar Magnetics. These ultra-low distortion drivers are equally driven with front and rear magnetic structures that offer inherent linearity through symmetrical “push-pull” neodymium motor structures and directly driven ultra-low mass diaphragms with none of the cone or dome breakup, inductance modulation, or hysteresis distortion that plagues traditional drivers. For the low end, we crafted long-throw high-excursion 6.5" woofers that match the effortlessness and transparency of the planar magnetic drivers. To lower distortion, we employed a unique split magnetic gap and a double Faraday ring for low, linear inductance and wide bandwidth, coupled with a single progressive Nomex spider with stitched-in lead wires. The woofer cones are a low-mass Rohacell foam core. Lastly, to achieve maximum linearity and extended deep bass extension without the compression and distortion of ports, we implemented 3 rear-mounted high-compliance passive radiators. Together, these elements create a stunning presentation of music in your home.

Loudspeakers have an honored place in our homes. They often are the focal point of our living rooms and, in that capacity, must proudly make a statement of fitting elegance. The Aspen FR10 enclosure design starts with the internal structure necessary for great sound and then lovingly sculpted into a work of art befitting our homes. With industrial design by famed Studio 63, the FR10's elegant look and smaller form factor complements every decor. Internally, the FR10 is an extensively braced enclosure designed to minimize external vibrations that have the potential of coloring the sound. Externally, the enclosures are lovingly finished with 20 coats of hand-rubbed high-grade lacquer. While the main body and baffling structure are built with MDF, the sculpted front baffle is formed from a dense, rigid and well-damped high-tech thermoset fiberglass resin composite material with integrated high-frequency acoustic waveguides. The speakers look to be almost floating as its curved bottom rests upon its sturdy aluminum base featuring large milled brass spikes with removable tips and integrated plastic feet for hard surfaces (and to aid in speaker placement). A masterpiece of design and love, crafted by those of us that care deeply about music and its reproduction in the home.

PS Audio Aspen FR10 Loudspeaker — compact floorstander with grand soundstage

The Aspen FR10 condenses PS Audio's flagship ideas into a slim, room-friendly tower that foregrounds its planar magnetic drivers and an expansive, three-radiator bass system. Reviewers praise its ability to render wide, layered soundstages and articulate, low-distortion detail while remaining tasteful and listenable across genres.

Sonic character: the FR10 pairs an open, airy treble and a clean, low-hysteresis midrange with surprisingly deep, well-textured bass for a compact cabinet — provided you give it the right placement and adequate amplification. As Sebastian Polcyn and HiFi News note, near-wall positioning unlocks the best low-end impact, while toe-in tunes image focus.

Build: well-braced thermoset fibreglass baffle, premium crossover parts and robust woofer engineering. Ideal for listeners who want floorstanding presence in small–medium rooms and who can invest in careful setup and a powerful partner amp. In short: a beautifully engineered, imaging-forward speaker that rewards system care — at a premium price.

Positive Feedback

"the FR10s render this live performance in the First Congregational Church UCC in Boulder, Colorado with startling clarity, balance, and a sense of the space."

Pros

  • Exceptional soundstage and imaging — wide, deep presentation with precise player placement.
  • Clean, low-distortion midrange and airy treble thanks to bespoke planar magnetic drivers and careful crossover design.
  • Surprisingly deep, well-textured bass for the cabinet size when positioned near a wall—three rear passive radiators and dual woofers extend to the mid‑20s Hz in-room.

&

Cons

  • Placement- and room-sensitive: bass and overall balance improve markedly close to a rear wall; may struggle to fill very large rooms.
  • Some measured irregularities (narrow ~6kHz dip and a referenced 600–900Hz region) and a vertical sweet spot that can affect on-axis tonal balance.
  • Premium positioning: strong engineering and performance but priced at the higher end for buyers sensitive to value.

Sound Quality

91/100

Bass

94/100

Twin 6.5" woofers plus three rear-firing passive radiators yield deep, well-textured bass for a compact tower: reviewers cite 25Hz in-room extension, 'window-rattling' authority and 'no desire to turn on a sub'. Room- and placement-sensitivity noted (benefits from near-wall positioning), so score reflects excellent low-end for its driver size with a small placement caveat.

Mid

90/100

Midrange is clear, natural and richly voiced—vocal presence praised across reviews and planars keep distortion low. A slight 600–900Hz dip was observed by one reviewer and the overall tonality is mildly polite/restrained, so score rewards coherence and timbral accuracy while acknowledging that small fullness issues exist.

Treble

89/100

Planar high-frequency transducer gives excellent detail and fast decay with wide lateral dispersion; reviewers note clean, airy highs. Minor on-axis glare/tiny vertical sweet-spot and a narrow ~6kHz irregularity were reported, preventing a higher score despite strong resolution.

Soundstage Imaging

92/100

Consistently praised for width, depth and precise placement—images can project beyond room boundaries and toe-in adjusts focus effectively. Reviewers report a broad, layered stage with convincing player positioning and strong spatial clarity.

Dynamics

88/100

Shows low distortion, good micro/macro dynamics and punchy percussive impact; reviewers enjoyed piano and drum transients. A couple of comments about a slightly relaxed or 'casual' braking on some material and the need for adequate amplifier power temper the rating.

Build Quality

92/100

High-quality engineering: thermoset fibreglass resin baffle, well-braced cabinet, bespoke crossover parts and robust woofer construction with advanced magnet structures. Packaging and thoughtful mechanical design also praised; finishes described as sleek and interior-friendly.

Features Connectivity

80/100

Passive tower baseline applied. Features include rear passive radiators and a steep fourth-order crossover; sensitivity and impedance specs provided. No DSP/app/streaming expected or penalized for a passive design.

Value for Money

76/100

Performance-for-price is mixed: reviewers acknowledge strong performance and that FR10 salvages much of FR30 tech at a lower price, but MSRP (~$9,999/pair) is premium. Good value for buyers wanting floorstanding planars in modest rooms, less so for those expecting top-tier reference-level performance at this price.
