The StageLine brings tube-like midrange warmth and trademark rhythmic drive to vinyl, making performances feel immediate, full-bodied and alive. Enjoy The Music found its quick, engaging delivery equally convincing with moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges, while dedicated cartridge versions and Naim power-supply compatibility make this compact phono stage a natural fit for a focused analogue system.

What Reviewers Are Saying

"What makes the Stageline really good (and extraordinarily good for a phono stage that retails for $375) is how well it fills a song with life."

— Enjoy The Music

Pros

Warm, full midrange gives vocals and instruments an involving, musical presence.

Strong pace, timing and speed create an energetic, highly engaging presentation.

Worked successfully with both moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges in review.

Compact, well-finished design with dedicated versions for different cartridge types.

Cons

Treble rolls off somewhat, sacrificing the last degree of air and extension.

Soundstage scale and imaging are not standout strengths.

The review sample produced low-level hum until the power supply and preamplifier were repositioned.

Buyers must select a fixed cartridge-specific version rather than adjust gain and loading on the unit.

SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 82/100

The StageLine is portrayed as an unusually warm, lively-sounding Naim design, with notably strong pace and a full, engaging midrange. Its softer treble balance, slight operating noise and modest spatial abilities keep it from being an all-round sonic standout.

Transparency Noise Floor

77/100

The reviewer found the sample slightly noisy, an important limitation in a phono stage. It was still described as clear and sharp without harsh emphasis, and the review's self-noise assessment was favorable, but it does not suggest a truly silent presentation.

Tonal Balance Musicality

85/100

The StageLine brings considerable warmth to the midrange and was said to make the Aurum Beta's midband sing. Its tube-like character makes music feel alive and involving, although the reviewer also heard some treble roll-off.

Dynamics

91/100

Pace, quickness, timing and rhythm are clear strengths, preserving the qualities for which Naim is known. The reviewer repeatedly found performances speedy and highly engaging.

Soundstage Imaging

76/100

The reviewer explicitly said soundstage recreation was not the StageLine's strength, and rated both front-stage width and imaging modestly. Moving to a Benz H2.0 improved imaging and pace, but this was not presented as a broadly expansive or highly holographic phono stage.

Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.

Cartridge Compatibility

78/100

StageLine is offered in dedicated N, E, S and K versions for high-output MC/MM, medium-output MC, and low-output MC cartridges with different loading needs. The review found it successful with both a $390 moving-magnet cartridge and a $1,200 moving-coil model, though buyers must select the appropriate fixed version rather than adjust gain and loading freely on the unit.

Build Quality

89/100

The compact casework earned a very high fit-and-finish assessment from the reviewer. It uses RCA inputs with DIN outputs and can run from a compatible Naim amplifier or external Naim supply; the review says little beyond this about internal construction or long-term durability.

Value for Money

93/100

At the reviewed $375 price, the reviewer called the StageLine a very good phono stage and said it was impossible to go wrong at the asking price. That praise came with an important system-cost caveat: an optional FlatCap 2 power supply was listed at an additional $950, although compatible Naim electronics can power the unit directly.
