At the center of attention once again
One can never take their popularity for granted. Earbuds might not be as popular now as they once were, but the EM5 is set to change that with its modern design, powerful driver, and amazing sound quality. Embark on a journey with the EM5 to redefine what earbuds can do and rediscover your music all over again.
Bold Beryllium with a capital “B”
In its quest to be uncompromising in every aspect, the EM5 does not let you down with its sound quality. The large 14.2mm beryllium-coated diaphragm ensures well-extended, well-textured, and plentiful bass. The lightness and notable rigidity of beryllium also allows the EM5 to present well-extended and detailed treble. Together, the EM5 capitalizes on the strengths of its driver and presents you with an unforgettable bold sound.
A small pace achieves a big stride
Structurally, the driver unit is designed with long strokes, which allows for more spaces for the linear displacement, lower distortion, and better bass performance compared to a typical earphone driver.
Rally up with the acoustic bass tube
Due to their open nature, flat-head earbuds will naturally leak a lot of bass, making your music sound dull. In order to increase bass extension, the EM5 contains a special flute-inspired acoustic bass tube to effectively boost lower frequencies, made possible thanks to advanced 3D printing manufacturing technologies. With the EM5, you will get solid and deep bass that will defy your expectations of what an earbud can do.
Note: For the best bass experience,
please use with ear tips.
Be a master of music with an upgraded cable
One must not underestimate the effect of a great cable on an earbud’s sound quality. Thus, the EM5 has a high-purity sterling silver with high conductivity that not only allows for gobs of detail to come through, but also provide an extremely enjoyable, vivid sound.
Novel 3D printing technology
FiiO has implemented the 4th generation of DLP 3D printing technology to create the EM5, allowing for a uniquely seamless design simply not possible with other manufacturing techniques. The EM5’s design pays tribute to other classical and iconic earbuds while also infusing modern aesthetics, refreshing our ideas on just what earbuds can look like.
Transform anytime, anywhere
The high-quality earphone cable is ready to change at a moment’s notice. The twist-lock swappable plug allows you to switch between 2.5mm/3.5mm/4.4mm heads to cover a wide range of scenarios.
Sound quality,
redefined
With its carefully engineered acoustics and excellent materials, the EM5 reaches a new height in earbud sound quality. The well-extended yet controlled bass, lush vocals, and clear yet unfatiguing treble will give you an unforgettable musical experience.
Quality you can feel
Transparent skin-friendly resin
The success of the 4th generation 3D printing process used to create the EM5 is due in large part to the use of skin-friendly, EU IIA medical grade certified resin. Not only is this glossy resin durable and not prone to color fading, it is also gentle and comfortable on your skin.
Subtly powerful even to the naked eye
The beauty of the transparent resin naturally draws your eyes to the powerful drivers within the EM5, allowing you to appreciate the engineering marvel within.
Uncompromising in sound and design
Smart ergonomic design doesn’t have to be sacrificed for great sound quality. In addition to the proven left blue and right red design to help you tell apart which earbud is which, there are also 3 small tactile bumps on the left earphones – allowing music lovers of all vision abilities to easily get into their music.
Listening and deciding to your heart’s content
Finding just the right sound after lots of experimentation is always truly satisfying. To help you in your quest for the perfect sound, we have carefully prepared 3 types of foam ear tips that allow you to tailor the EM5 perfectly to you and your music. And to make things more convenient, the included HB3 leather carrying case allows you to easily carry the EM5 wherever you go.

The FiiO EM5 turns open-ear listening into a wide, speaker-like soundstage, pairing richly natural vocals and strings with warm midrange, clean detail, and remarkably easy all-day comfort. Soundnews praised its transparent, relaxed control, while PortaFi highlighted its convincing three-dimensional space and nuanced acoustic performance.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Pros
Exceptionally natural, full-bodied midrange gives vocals and acoustic instruments lifelike warmth and emotional presence.
Open design delivers a wide, out-of-head soundstage with convincing three-dimensional placement.
Comfortable, low-pressure fit supports very long listening sessions when paired with the included foams.
Generous package includes a protective case, three tuning foam sets, and interchangeable 3.5mm, 2.5mm, and 4.4mm terminations.
&
Cons
Virtually no passive isolation and noticeable sound leakage make them unsuitable for noisy travel or quiet shared spaces.
Sub-bass rumble and bass slam fall short of sealed IEMs, especially for listeners seeking hard-hitting electronic music.
The cable is fixed rather than detachable, and fit plus tonal balance depend heavily on ear shape and foam choice.
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 91/100
Reviewers find the EM5 unusually accomplished for an open earbud, combining a warm, mid-focused presentation with strong detail and an expansive, out-of-head stage. Its softer treble balance and less authoritative sub-bass mean it favors natural vocals, acoustic instruments, and relaxed long sessions over hard-hitting isolation-monitor sound.
Bass
86/100
Bass is widely described as clean, defined, textured, and surprisingly weighty for an earbud. It cannot deliver the deepest rumble or slam of a sealed in-ear monitor, and one review specifically found sub-bass authority and detail somewhat limited.
Midrange
95/100
The midrange is the EM5's most consistently celebrated strength. Reviewers praise bold but well-balanced mids, lifelike vocals and strings, natural body, emotional expression, and detail without a dry or clinical character.
Treble
88/100
High frequencies are airy, smooth, and generally non-fatiguing, with respectable extension and useful layering. The presentation is less sharp and precisely defined than some IEMs, while one reviewer advises treble-sensitive listeners to audition because the upper range is not heavily muted.
Resolution Separation
92/100
Reviewers hear excellent detail retrieval, convincing acoustic-instrument texture, and strong layering for the form factor. Fine detail is more apparent in quiet listening, while the relaxed upper treble and softer sub-bass keep it from sounding relentlessly analytical.
Soundstage Imaging
95/100
Its open earbud design produces one of the most praised aspects of the EM5: a wide, deep, three-dimensional presentation that avoids the usual in-head effect. Multiple reviewers highlight convincing spatial placement, room ambience, and a notably less claustrophobic presentation than typical IEMs.
Dynamics Coherence
91/100
Reviewers describe strong driver control, substantial power handling, and convincing macro-dynamic weight. The coherent single-driver presentation remains smooth and relaxed, though ultimate bass impact is naturally below that of a well-sealed in-ear monitor.
FIT COMFORT ISOLATION PERFORMANCE 72/100
The EM5 is exceptionally comfortable for several reviewers and can be worn for very long sessions, but its earbud fit is anatomy-dependent and relies on foam covers for secure retention. As an intentionally open design, it offers virtually no meaningful passive isolation and leaks sound freely.
Seal Stability
72/100
These open earbuds do not form an IEM-style acoustic seal, and reviewers stress that individual outer-ear anatomy has an unusually large effect on fit. Foam covers are effectively necessary: without them, the smooth, slippery housings can fall out, and the foam choice also changes the tonal balance.
Comfort
91/100
Comfort is a clear strength when the EM5 suits the listener's ear shape. Reviewers report a secure-enough and comfortable fit with foams, with one able to wear them all day and another preferring the comfort of the intended straight-down fit.
Isolation
45/100
Isolation is repeatedly described as nearly absent, which is inherent to the open earbud format rather than a construction flaw. Outside sounds remain clearly audible and the EM5 leaks enough music to be unsuitable for quiet shared spaces or noisy travel.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Accessories
93/100
Reviewers describe the EM5 as well assembled, attractive, and supported by a durable cable arrangement designed to resist everyday pulling. The hard protective case, three foam-cover types, and practical interchangeable 3.5 mm, 2.5 mm, and 4.4 mm terminations make the package especially useful rather than merely elaborate.
Value for Money
81/100
At roughly $299, the EM5 is viewed as expensive in earbud terms. One reviewer explicitly felt comparable sound could be had for less and preferred a cheaper IEM for bass impact and depth, although other coverage still regarded it as a worthwhile option and praised its unusually complete package.
