Completely redesigned 500 Series DAC/Preamp/Headphone amplifier with high-end 700 Series design concept in a compact A4-size package.

The UD-507 is equipped with our proprietary “TRDD 5” discrete DAC, designed with musicality as the top priority. Following in the footsteps of TEAC's acclaimed 701 series,
the new “TRDD 5” discrete DAC offers a clear soundstage and accurate imaging, providing listeners with a truly immersive musical experience.

Fully Balanced Dual Monaural Headphone Amplifier

The UD-507 is a headphone amplifier featuring the TEAC-HCLD2 high current line driver, which is characterized by its high current supply capability.
Compared to the previous model, the maximum output power has been greatly
improved by strengthening the power supply, resulting in a generous driving power of
1,200mW + 1,200mW (balanced output at 100 ohm load), which is comparable to a dedicated headphone amplifier without DAC.
The power amplifier gain can be switched between 3 positions (Low/Mid/High)
to fine-tune the output to best match the sensitivity and impedance of the headphones.

High-Quality Preamplifier with Multiple Analog/Digital Inputs

The UD-507 incorporates the TEAC-QVCS high precision analog volume attenuator
and the powerful TEAC-HCLD2 high current line buffer circuit.
With five digital inputs and two analog inputs (unbalanced and balanced),
a wide variety of devices can be connected.

TEAC UD-507 — DAC, Preamp & Headphone Amplifier

TEAC-USA’s UD-507 is a feature-dense DAC/preamp/headphone amp that pairs musical clarity with robust drive. At its heart is the TRDD-5 discrete DAC and a high-current TEAC‑HCLD2 buffer that deliver a clear, well-focused soundstage, articulate imaging, and punchy dynamics across headphones. As a USB DAC it supports up to 384kHz/32-bit PCM and 22.5MHz DSD, plus full MQA decoding; connectivity includes USB‑C, USB‑B, coaxial, optical, Bluetooth (LDAC/aptX HD) and balanced XLR/RCA I/O. The chassis houses a precision TEAC‑QVCS analog volume control and a dual-mono balanced circuit for solid build and low noise. Ideal for enthusiasts seeking a standalone desktop hub or preamp in a two-channel system, the UD-507 justifies its premium with wide format support and professional-grade outputs. "provide a more immersive musical experience for all listeners."

Pros

  • In-house TRDD-5 discrete DAC produces an immersive presentation with clear soundstage and precise imaging.
  • High-current TEAC‑HCLD2 buffering and strengthened power supply deliver substantial headphone drive (up to 1,200mW balanced) and strong dynamics.
  • Very broad connectivity and format support — USB-C/B, coaxial, optical, Bluetooth (LDAC/aptX HD), full MQA and DSD up to 22.5MHz — for flexible system integration.
  • Robust build and preamp engineering (TEAC‑QVCS quad volume control, dual-mono balanced circuitry) yield low noise and professional-grade outputs.

Cons

  • Priced at a premium compared with some competitors; cost may deter buyers focused on budget alternatives.
  • No built-in network streaming — wireless is limited to Bluetooth rather than native streamer functionality.

Sound Quality

90/100

TEAC strengthened the power supply and uses a high-current TEAC-HCLD2 buffer, giving a generous driving capability (1,200mW+1,200mW balanced into 100Ω) that reviewers say approaches a dedicated headphone amplifier. That extra headroom and current drive supports strong transient behavior and punch across most headphones.

Noise Floor

85/100

Specs list S/N ≥105dB (A-weighted) and the review does not raise any hiss/noise concerns, so the unit appears very quiet and suitable for most IEMs and headphones. No reviewer described a 'black background' or reference-level silence, so the score reflects 'very quiet' rather than industry-leading silence.

Headphone Compatibility

85/100

Power ratings (up to 1.2W per channel balanced into 100Ω and 900mW into 32Ω) and support for 16–600Ω suggest the UD-507 can drive demanding planars and most full-size cans easily. However, listed output impedances (20Ω unbalanced / 40Ω balanced) are relatively high for sensitive multi-driver IEMs and may alter frequency response on low-impedance IEMs, so compatibility is very good overall but not ideal for all IEMs.

Build Quality

90/100

TEAC implements a full-stage dual-monaural/balanced circuit, the TEAC-QVCS high-resolution analog preamp and a substantial chassis (4.9kg), and the review highlights the precision volume attenuator and robust circuit design. These details point to high-quality construction and attention to component selection.

Features Connectivity

95/100

Very comprehensive: discrete TRDD-5 DAC, USB-C and USB-B, coaxial and optical, Bluetooth with LDAC/aptX HD, full MQA decoder, XLR/RCA analog inputs, balanced 4-pin XLR and 4.4mm Pentaconn headphone outputs plus 6.3mm, preamp outputs and remote. This breadth pushes the unit into the top tier for connectivity and features.

Value for Money

89/100

At ~$2,100 the UD-507 is more expensive than some competitors (noted examples: Wiim, Schiit), but the reviewer explicitly says the broader connectivity, discrete DAC and format support make it 'worth a good look.' Mixed price commentary leads to a justified-premium assessment rather than a bargain.
