Linn Majik DSM
Majik DSM
With its unmatched usability, stylish design, and superb build quality, Majik DSM outperforms all-comers in an increasingly wide field. Once you touch and hear it, you’ll understand: it’s a serious piece of kit…
Versatile & User-friendly
Take advantage of a comprehensive array of inputs and outputs to get the best sound possible from anything in your home.
Hook up any turntable or other analogue source; connect your TV and experience consoles and set-top boxes over high-quality eARC; connect your headphones, a subwoofer, or a computer-hosted music library.
Whatever you connect to Majik DSM, it just works – and beautifully!
Stylish Build
Majik DSM is built differently. Superior quality and precision engineering are evident throughout.
Its stylish and subtly curvaceous black outer sleeve is formed from a single piece of 2mm-thick aluminium. It’s punched, cut, and precisely folded to exceedingly high tolerances, before being sprayed with a powder paint coat, cured to a satin-like sheen, and finished with a crisp, UV-printed Linn logo. All in-house.
Sounds Better
Our innovative Class D amplifiers reduce noise and distortion dramatically – and with improved efficiency – versus conventional amplifiers. The critically important Digital-to-Analogue conversion stage in Majik DSM features our proprietary precision clocking and upsampling, to more accurately generate the music signal before it’s sent on to the integrated amplifiers.
Majik DSM contains a sophisticated power supply and circuit boards designed and populated entirely in-house. These are mounted on a robust chassis, formed of precision-cut and folded aluminium, which lends Majik DSM superb isolation for its sensitive internal components.
The combination of high-performance electronics, superior build quality and cutting-edge in-house software means you only hear crystal-clear, unadulterated music with Majik DSM.
Space Optimisation
Majik DSM features, as standard, Linn’s unique room correction software – Space Optimisation. This powerful tool means you are guaranteed the best performance possible, no matter the size, shape, or construction of your living room.
Majik DSM is the accessible distillation of the best Linn can offer. It sets the benchmark for all-in-one digital music players, both in build and sound-quality.
Majik DSM is a descendant of our original flagship streaming player; the beneficiary of more years of digital audio innovation in the industry than anyone else. It stands distinct from the rest. Every electrical component, every piece of aluminium, steel, silicon and glass is tailored expressly for Majik DSM by our multi-disciplined team of engineers; and presented in a future-proof product which is built-to-last.
Designed by the same team, engineered on the same machinery, and built by the same technicians – with all the same care and attention-to-detail as our flagship products – Majik DSM is a serious piece of kit!

The Majik DSM delivers a spacious, incisive sound with exceptional timing, taut bass and finely focused imaging, while combining streamer, DAC, phono stage and amplification in one elegant hub. StereoNET highlights its open, engaging presentation, while comprehensive connectivity, eARC and Space Optimisation make it a remarkably complete centrepiece for serious music and TV systems.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Pros
Highly resolved, rhythmically precise sound with authoritative bass control and an engaging sense of momentum.

&
Cons
Its neutral, analytical balance can sound comparatively reserved for listeners seeking a warmer or more overtly exuberant presentation.
Room optimisation can slim bass weight on already lean recordings if its settings are not carefully tailored.
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 94/100
Reviewers consistently describe an incisive, highly detailed and musically engaging presentation, with particularly strong timing, bass control and spatial precision. Its character is neutral to slightly analytical rather than overtly warm, and one review found it comparatively reserved; nevertheless, the overall listening consensus is emphatically positive.
Transparency Resolution
94/100
StereoNET found “oodles of detail” within a smooth, even presentation, while Sound Advice praised its ability to expose harmonic variations and fleeting transients. SoundStage Access likewise heard articulate, incisive and sharply defined musical landscapes, and What Hi-Fi noted clean, crisp detail across an open presentation.
Tonal Balance Musicality
93/100
StereoNET characterises the sound as neutral, studio-like and free from brightness, with a seamless, unhardened midrange and delicate treble. Sound Advice and hi-fi+ found it deeply engaging, authoritative and transfixing, although What Hi-Fi felt the presentation favoured analytical clarity over a more animated character.
Dynamics
93/100
Sound Advice praised the Majik DSM's attack, decay, rhythm, tempo and effortless momentum, while hi-fi+ heard exceptional timing and quick, impactful bass. SoundStage Access reported substantial slam and start-stop control, and StereoNET found the system powerful and emotive at higher levels; What Hi-Fi's description of it as comparatively reserved is the main qualification.
Soundstage Imaging
95/100
Spatial performance is a recurring standout: StereoNET heard pinpoint instrument placement and surprisingly deep staging, while SoundStage Solo described performers as floating realistically in the room. StereoNET's other review found a vast, open soundscape with instruments given their own space, and SoundStage Access praised precise central images and fine delineation within the mix.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
88/100
The current model's aluminium chassis, isolation-minded construction and cool-running operation receive positive attention, with StereoNET calling the casework excellent and built to a high standard. However, reviews of earlier versions offer a useful caveat: What Hi-Fi found the aluminium less premium-feeling than expected, while SoundStage Access criticised the thin folded-metal case and plastic remote.
Features Connectivity
95/100
This is an exceptionally complete one-box hub, combining high-resolution streaming, comprehensive music-service support, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth, HDMI eARC, USB, digital and analogue inputs, MM/MC phono provision, headphone output, subwoofer outputs and speaker connections. Reviewers also single out the polished Linn app, reliable software, Space Optimisation room correction and the ability to accommodate sources from turntables and computers to TVs and games consoles.
Value for Money
94/100
At roughly £4,300 for the current model, reviewers see the Majik DSM as a compelling alternative to similarly priced separates: StereoNET said it was hard to see how a well-chosen separates system of comparable cost could better it. Sound Advice judged it an almost comical distance ahead of price-comparable rivals, while hi-fi+ felt its performance matched its asking price; an earlier SoundStage review did criticise the lack of a proper quick-start guide at a high price.
