ONE STEP AHEAD

The Model ISx Reference is a direct evolution of the Model ISx, and thanks to its additional features, it "gives more than an idea" of what our legendary Model IT, is capable of.

Its exacting circuits and power supply receive special upgrades in order to further allow the fantastic potential of our low memory technology to come to fruition.

The power output remains the same as for the Model ISx, but micro-dynamics and resolution are increased to allow greater expression of the feeling and intention of the music.

Thus also the sound stage is wider, detail is sharper and the presentation is more mature, even if the sound balance remains respectfully neutral as with the Model ISx.

Its extreme transparency, over the full bandwidth is in contrast with midband focused transparency of the best tube amplifiers. Its micro dynamics, never aggressive, clumsy or confused is in contrast with almost all transistor and digital amplifiers.

Never has an amplifier done so much at such an affordable price, for music and for the pleasure of the listener.

OPTIONAL FEATURES

ZERO SIDE EFFECT REMOTE VOLUME CONTROL

Today's digital sources musical drama is the use of their digital volume control, remote controled or not. It simply destroys musicality what ever the price of the DAC, server or computer. Now, for a much better sound, simply set both DAC and computer at full level and set the volume thanks to the Lavardin amplifier remote handset.

MM PHONO INPUT

To get the full magic of vinyl reproduction, Model ISx can be fitted with our exceptional internal phono moving magnet input module. Further more, the direct connection to the heart of the amplifier guaranties better sonic results than any external devices.

BYPASS INPUT

For integration of a Surround Processor into High End Audio System, Model ISx can have an optional BYPASS input (input 1) with fixed amplification fitted. For ultimate quality, both AV and stereo signals are routed directly without any additional bypass switch nor relay !

Lavardin ISx Reference

The compact ISx Reference is a small integrated amp that punches well above its size, delivering exceptional clarity and dynamic authority. In a review by James Michael Hughes for StereoNET United Kingdom, the amplifier is noted for a holographic soundstage, precise imaging and surprising low-frequency weight despite a modest 2x50W rating. Its character is full-bodied yet controlled: firm, tuneful bass, articulate midrange and a smooth, non-fatiguing treble. High-speed, short signal-path circuitry and sealed-relay input switching preserve microdynamics and transient punch, giving the impression of greater power. Built in non-magnetic aluminium with an understated finish, the ISx Reference suits listeners who prioritise transparency and musicality over flash. With optional MM phono and remote-volume options, it offers near-high-end performance and strong value for focused stereo systems.

StereoNET United Kingdom

"It can easily be compared to amps costing two or three times as much in terms of sound quality."

Pros

  • Exceptionally transparent, natural tonal balance with detailed microdynamics — reviewer found it informative yet relaxed.
  • Punchy, authoritative dynamics and transient control despite modest 2x50W power, delivering gratifying perceived loudness and impact.
  • Holographic imaging and strong spatial depth that projects 'out of the speaker boxes', providing convincing soundstage and instrument placement.

&

Cons

  • Limited onboard features: no digital inputs or streaming, and useful items (phono stage, remote volume) are factory options that add cost.
  • Understated, modest aesthetics that may not appeal to buyers who prefer flashy or statement-piece components.

Sound Quality

91/100

Dynamics

90/100

Despite modest 2x50W output, the reviewer highlights 'remarkably full-bodied and dynamic' performance and describes explosive moments that 'almost made me jump,' indicating excellent transient attack and perceived power. Comments that it 'punches well above its weight' and projects authoritative attack justify an upper-tier dynamics score for a Class AB-level power rating.

Soundstage Imaging

92/100

The amp is described as very holographic and able to project 'out of the speaker boxes' with enhanced spatial depth and clarity. Review evidence of clear imaging and convincing depth supports a strong score for staging and image focus.

Build Quality

87/100

Build is described as 'perfectly fine for its price' with non-magnetic aluminium casework and a substantial front panel (3mm chassis, 6mm front face), indicating solid construction. The reviewer does not portray it as flagship-grade mechanical craftsmanship, so the score reflects very good but not peerless build quality.

Features Connectivity

83/100

Baseline connectivity is simple: four high-quality RCA line inputs with sealed relays; factory options include an MM phono stage (+MM initially, MC planned later) and remote volume control. There is no built-in DAC, no digital/streaming, no headphone/XLR outputs, so the modest positive adjustments for optional phono and remote yield a generally competent but limited feature set.

Value for Money

90/100

Reviewer explicitly calls it 'surprisingly good value' and says it can be compared to amplifiers costing two or three times as much, framing the ISx Reference as a justified premium purchase. While 'not cheap', the consensus in the review is that the performance makes the asking price (around £4199 in the listing) well worth it for buyers seeking this level of sound.
