The FE203Σ full-range speaker unit released in 1979 was very popular as a dedicated back-loaded horn enclosure. This product is based on the FE203Σ and is a model created by combining the elemental technologies of that time with the latest technologies of today. The origin of the FE series' dedicated back-loaded horn models has been renewed with modern technology to create a special limited-production unit that brings out the best features of the back-loaded horn to the fullest extent for maximum enjoyment.

Features

• 2-layer paper super beaten NUKP diaphragm
The diaphragm is made of NUKP(*1) as the main material and manufactured using the two-layer paper technology(*2). The base layer is made of NUKP(*3) with the proper ratio of long and short fiber pulp, and a mixture of Manila hemp and oriental paperbush, which provides both rigidity due to its bulky structure while maintaining moderate internal loss. Short fiber pulp of NUKP is placed on the surface layer to achieve high propagation velocity on the diaphragm surface. Based on the thick and taut tone of the original FE203Σ in a back-loaded horn enclosure, the new FE203Σ-RE has enabled reproduction of mid-high frequencies with a greater sense of substance and rise, and thick low frequencies with a lower center of gravity.

• Low distortion in the midrange by eliminating the eyelets
Harmonic distortion in the midrange has been reduced by eliminating the eyelets that connect the voice coil lead wire to the tinsel wire.

• Pocket neck damper
A pocket neck damper is used to bond the three vibration system components (voice coil, damper and cone paper) on the same circumference. The shape and material of the damper also provide highly linear amplitude characteristics.

• Large two-piece ferrite magnetic circuit
For the magnetic circuit, Φ133 mm ferrite magnets are used in two layers, which is unique to the Σ series, to ensure sufficient magnetic flux density. The pole section is covered with a copper cap to reduce current distortion. This enables powerful music reproduction.

• Corrugated surround
The surround is made of cotton cloth impregnated with resin and further coated with resin to form a corrugated shape, continuing the tradition of FE203Σ, providing excellent acoustic performance.

• Frame with the same mounting pitch as FE203, etc.
It has the same mounting pitch as previous generations of steel frame models such as FE203/204/206/207 and the latest FE206NV2.

• Gold-plated terminals
The input terminals are Faston 205 type low-loss gold-plated terminals. In addition to providing secure joints for speaker cables, this prevents sound quality degradation.
