Precisely restored audio,Every last detail present
Dual ACCUSILICON high-performance ultra-low noise femtosecond crystal oscillators
For the first time, FIIO utilizes two industry-leading ACCUSILICON AS318-B series ultra-low phase noise femtosecond oscillators (45.1584MHz, 49.1520MHz), which have been fully screened. These effectively reduce the impact of phase noise on audio signals, resulting in high levels of decoding fidelity and digital output precision. When paired with high-performance external decoders and amplifiers, you can achieve reference-grade sound.
Proprietary DAPS (Digital Audio Purification System)
No resampling throughout
FIIO’s proprietary (DAPS digital audio purification system), composed of a custom Android audio core and a low-jitter clock coprocessor, has been refined over many years. It allows for non-resampled audio globally at both the application and system levels. It can also accurately match various sampling rates of PCM and DSD audio for purer music.
Digital-analog separation Exactly reproducing the original sound
AKM flagship DAC combo AK4191+AK4499EX
Like in the Q15, K9 AKM, and M23, the S15 also utilizes the highly acclaimed AKM flagship DAC combo - AK4191+AK4499EX. This combo is based on a new design that fully separates the digital and analog portions and also incorporates ‘DWA ROUTING Technology’ – all of which enhances signal-to-noise ratio and reduces noise across various amplitudes. The audible result is a cleaner background and improved resolution to deliver a natural, relaxed, and totally unstrained sound.
Fully balanced analog audio architecture
The S15 uses a fully balanced design, including everything from the DAC decoding to the preamplifier stage. Such a design significantly reduces noise and crosstalk and improves the line and preamp output quality – for which you can choose between fixed or variable gain. The IV, LPF, and other audio sections count on OPA1612 low-noise precision op-amps for high voltage supply to ensure the dynamics in your music are faithfully reproduced.
Premium materials All in the quest for sound quality
Physical partitions and shielding Enjoy “pure” heavenly sound
The digital, analog, and power sections are physically separated to prevent mutual interference, which ensures signals are accurately processed and all dynamics within the music are preserved. The end result is that you get to enjoy “pure” heavenly sound.
Precise power supply design
Separated digital and analog power supplies
This design effectively prevents crosstalk between the analog and digital audio circuits. It also provides better power isolation and interference resistance.
Multi-stage analog power supply
The analog section is powered by a multi-stage power supply, with precisely divided stages for components like the DAC and LPF. Each stage employs numerous precision low-dropout regulators (LDOs) for secondary regulation to ensure a consistent, stable and pure power supply.

FiiO’s S15 makes digital listening feel expansive and emotionally immediate, pairing a neutral-warm, richly detailed presentation with broad soundstaging and focused imaging. Audiophilepure heard polished resolution and immersive layering, while Enjoy The Music praised its lifelike transparency. Android streaming, local storage and balanced preamp outputs make this streaming DAC a remarkably complete full-width hub.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Pros
Natural, detailed and emotionally engaging sound with a neutral-warm balance, strong resolution and transparent delivery.
Broad, layered soundstage with accurate imaging, separation and stable channel balance.
Exceptionally versatile streamer/DAC/preamp platform with extensive physical connectivity, local storage and Roon support.
&
Cons
Bluetooth playback has less treble extension and overall refinement than local or USB decoding.
The RCA output trails the balanced XLR connection for staging separation and texture.
Android-based control can feel rough around the edges, with limited native streaming-service connect support and a less polished phone-control experience.
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 93/100
Reviews consistently describe a natural, transparent and highly resolved presentation with strong imaging, separation and musical ease. Its performance through both its internal DAC and digital outputs is widely praised, although one comparison found a far more expensive Moon streamer fuller-bodied and more involving.
Overall Sound
94/100
Audiophilepure heard a neutral-warm, polished and emotionally engaging sound with excellent resolution, broad staging and precise layering. Enjoy the Music called the presentation “solid, faultless” and lifelike, while other reviewers praised its organic tone, deep punchy bass, good pace, and unusually rich detail for the price.
Digital Signal Integrity
91/100
Reviewers describe a transparent feed to the linestage, a dark and clean background, stable channel balance, strong transient response, and convincing spatial separation. The S15’s DAPS architecture and low-jitter clock coprocessor are intended to preserve native PCM and DSD rates, while listening reports found little difference between app-based playback and AirPlay; Bluetooth playback, however, was less open and extended than local or USB playback.
FEATURES USABILITY PERFORMANCE 91/100
The S15 is an unusually comprehensive streaming hub, combining a large touchscreen and Android platform with extensive network, local-file and wireless capabilities. Reviewers find it easy and enjoyable to use, though one reviewer would have liked a rear USB digital output.
Streaming Software
90/100
The 7.8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth remote and companion app provide several ways to control playback, while Android 12 permits broad app support. Reviews report satisfying use of Qobuz, Tidal and AirPlay, with no audible disadvantage reported between streaming from an iPhone and using the apps on the unit itself.
Features Connectivity
94/100
Reviewers highlight unusually broad provision for a streamer at this price: Ethernet, RCA and XLR analogue outputs, HDMI, USB storage, microSD, an M.2 storage bay, Bluetooth and Roon Ready support. It handles local files and network streaming, supports major services and Bluetooth codecs, and can also serve as a DAC/preamp; the notable omission raised by one review is a rear USB audio output.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
88/100
The S15 is described as a well-built, full-width component, with Soundnews also rating its construction positively. Hans Beekhuyzen notes a thick cold-rolled steel enclosure, a substantial machined-aluminium front panel, while another reviewer reports a linear supply with isolation between the power, DAC and digital sections.
Value for Money
95/100
Value commentary is exceptionally enthusiastic at the roughly $999 asking price. Soundnews awarded 95/100 for value, while Enjoy the Music found that a Moon 681 costing roughly twelve times more did not sound remotely twelve times better; other reviewers call the S15 attractive, versatile and unusually complete for the money.
