Put a board underneath and the sound gets better – it works with the Creaktiv Sound Control. This base effectively absorbs sound-damaging vibrations from high-quality HiFi components and decouples them from substrate vibrations. This results in more transparent, detailed sound that also possesses more definition and dynamics. Furthermore, the Sound Control offers a clever tuning bonus: the base can be flipped over, which makes it possible to achieve somewhat greater presence in the upper midrange. Depending on the component and installation location, this can result in another performance increase. However, even without this flipping procedure, the Sound Control provides a sound improvement that, especially considering the price, is truly worth recommending.

Anyone who hasn't decoupled their equipment from the substrate yet should definitely try the Sound Control absorber. For a price that is more than fair compared to other absorbers, you get a sound improvement that really shows – and sounds – impressive. The clever trick of being able to change the tuning – albeit minimally – by flipping the absorber can prove to be extremely valuable for systems and listening situations with minor issues. Overall, a clear recommendation!

The creaktiv Sound Control Base, made by Audio Selection, is impressive. Whether turned left or right, it expands and calms the sound spectrum equally. It gives the music an added warmth and body, delivers a perfectly straight soundstage horizon, a differentiated stage, offers more spatiality and transparency, a plus in the finesse of the sound image, and somewhat more volume without turning the volume knob.

This effect is particularly noticeable at room volume of around 60 dB as a gain in warmth and clarity, but at high volume of 100 dB and at the peaks, the sound-controlling plate contributes even more noticeably to an enjoyable music experience, as it effectively prevents harsh attacks on acoustic harmony.

The effect was particularly easy to detect with the problematic arrangement of a junior system with amplifier and speakers together on a sideboard. The obvious interference from the speakers was caught just as reliably by the creaktiv Sound Control Base, and it also provided acoustic benefits to the music in every respect. And whether the juniors liked it or not:

A device update for 200 euros certainly wouldn't have half as much success.
