Alexander Ultima is a class A line preamplifier with MM phono stage (MC upon request).
It uses separate transformers for the power supplies and a choke for the filtering of the High voltage supply which is stabilized for all tubes.
It features 1 XLR input and 1 XLR output which are connected in single ended manner (pseudo-balanced). With low output impedance it can drive any power amplifier.
All electronic components are through hole type silver soldered by hand.
Alexander Ultima uses 8 signal tubes, 4 for the line stage and 4 for the phono stage.
It provides 5 line inputs in addition to the phono input, a tape output and 2 pre outputs. Alexander Ultima also has a thru input. The signal connected to this input appears to the output of the preamplifier when Alexander is OFF.
Gold plated RCA and XLR connectors are implemented for the signal inputs/outputs.
For the volume control the classic blue Alps is used.
An elegant remote control in aluminum case offers you control over all the functions of Alexander Ultima preamplifier. Volume control, input selection and mute.
Carefully selected values and types of the electronic components contribute to the reliable circuits operation and the superior sound quality of the preamplifier. Mundorf Evo silver gold oil signal capacitors and premium quality tubes are used in Alexander Ultima. The meticulous PCB design ensures excellent behavior in SNR, distortion and channel separation.
Inner signal wiring with high quality shielded signal cable. Power wiring uses high quality copper cables of more-than-needed AWG gauge, to achieve low impedance power transfer. All power cables are twisted in pairs to minimize the electromagnetic interference.
The handmade power transformers and choke are thoroughly tested for quality and reliability. The positioning of the transformers is such that minimizes the magnetic interference with the tube circuits. Furthermore the transformers have copper foil shielding.
