Burmester 911 MK3
Power amplifier
For Top Line
The 911 MK3 is regarded as one of the quickest and most powerful amps in the audio world. Its distinctive appearance exudes power and elegance. Excellent spatial resolution, detail and musical warmth characterize its sonic signature.
Power Amplifier
The 911 MK3 power amplifier is a close derivative of the reference power amp 909 and is regarded as one of the quickest and most powerful amps in the audio world. Its strong performance is the result of the knowledge and experience gained during the design and manufacture of the much-acclaimed 909 power amp. The MK3 moniker indicates that Burmester’s second largest power amp has reached its third generation of refinement. With the distinctive appearance of the silver anodized fins of its heat sinks the 911 MK3 exudes power and elegance. It tightly controls any bass driver and proves that there is a lot of musicality in the bass line. Excellent spatial resolution, detail and musical warmth characterize the sonic signature of the 911 MK3.
With attention to detail.
Recognisable as a typical Burmester even from the very first glance, the 911 MK3 power amplifier makes use of characteristic design elements of the Top Line.
Design
The design of the 911 MK3 power amplifier represents the perfect blend of form and function. The silver anodized housing elements and aluminum cooling fins in typical Burmester design are recognized for their stylishness and timeless beauty. The fins work as perfect heat sinks and make certain that the power amp is able to pump out maximum performance on command without strain. The chrome plated triangle with the curved manufacturer’s signature on top of the chrome plated front trim leave no doubt that this is a genuine member of the Burmester power amp family. The lid with the large milled Burmester signature has proven so popular that it is now offered as an option for other company amps.
Handmade
Like all Burmester components the 911 MK3 power amplifier is hand-assembled in the Berlin factory. All parts and components that are used for Burmester power amps are measured and selected to very tight tolerances. This is considered necessary to ensure the best-quality build, reliable operation and value-retention over many years. The aluminum fins of the heat sinks, which give Burmester power amps their distinctive appearance, are manufactured by a Berlin supplier on especially developed tools. Most of the other components are also bought from local top-tier suppliers. This is the basis for Burmester to ensure uncompromising manufacturing quality and long-lasting reliability for which the brand is well known.

The Burmester 911 MK3 pairs effortless high-current authority with startlingly transparent, grain-free detail, keeping timbre, imaging and microdynamics intact from whisper-quiet passages to concert-level peaks. Anthony Kershaw of Audiophilia found its deep, articulate bass and expansive staging especially revelatory—a formidable match for revealing speakers and demanding loads.

Its revealing nature can expose limitations in lesser ancillary equipment and poor recordings.
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 96/100
The review describes an exceptionally open, uncoloured and finely resolved presentation that remains composed from very low levels to high output. Its extraordinary power delivery is matched by unusually convincing spatial focus, wide-and-deep staging, and bass control.
Transparency Resolution
96/100
Audiophilia calls the sound completely uncoloured, grain-free, liquid and incredibly detailed. Clarity and intact timbre reportedly persist even at very low listening levels, while complex orchestral strings remain focused and delineated.
Tonal Balance Musicality
95/100
The amplifier is described as uncoloured and liquid rather than overtly voiced, with clear vocal reproduction and preserved instrumental timbre. The reviewer also found it capable of an unusually lifelike sense of notes ringing naturally through space.
Dynamics
97/100
Microdynamic reproduction is singled out as one of the amplifier's high points, with macro swings handled with what the reviewer calls ridiculous ease. The 911 MK3 remained effortless and stable at high volume, without hardness, compression, or collapse of the presentation.
Soundstage Imaging
96/100
The review found the width and depth of recorded soundstages revelatory, with each instrument perfectly placed. Imaging is described in superlative terms, and the amplifier reportedly retains the stage's integrity even when played loudly.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
94/100
The review reports tightly specified internal parts, proprietary silver wiring, substantial colour-coded speaker terminals, and exceptionally finished anodised casework. Its 350W/4-ohm stereo rating, 40A power supply, eight output transistors per channel, balanced connection, remote integration, and mono/bi-amp capability point to a thoroughly engineered high-power platform.
Value for Money
88/100
At roughly US$30,000, this is plainly a costly amplifier, but the reviewer directly frames its performance as potentially worth that asking price and concludes with a very strong recommendation. There is no comparison suggesting it is a bargain against less expensive rivals, yet the reported performance makes the premium feel justified.
