Argon Audio FENRIS A4
FENRIS A4 will surprise you with its huge sound for such a small speaker! With a compact and sleek Scandinavian design, it will fit seamlessly into smaller spaces and add a nice look to any room. Easy to set up — just plug and play. Simply the perfect everyday speakers.
Our FENRIS speakers stand unmatched in versatility and sound quality within their price range. Featuring Bluetooth 5.0, HDMI ARC for easy and convenient TV audio, turntable input, and much more. All of this in a pair of speakers that will give even much more expensive speakers a run for their money when it comes to sound quality.
An abundance of connections
With ARC for TV audio, Bluetooth 5.0, phono input for turntables, subwoofer output and then still both an analog and digital input to spare, FENRIS handle virtually all sources you could dream of throwing at them. FENRIS also automatically switch input between the sources you have connected, so in day-to-day use you rarely even need to grab the included remote control. Simply connect your favorite sources, sit back, and enjoy the fantastic sound quality.
Tuned to perfection
Since the digital amplifier in FENRIS has four channels, we were able to assign each driver separate amplifier channels. Doing this, we solve one of the classic challenges of traditional speakers: ensuring that the transition between the treble (the high tones) and the woofer (the deeper tones) is smooth and sounds natural. The technology we use here is called an 'active crossover' and is generally much more accurate than a classic, 'passive' crossover. But wait, there’s more! Because both the amplifier and the drivers in these speakers are our own design, we have optimized them to work perfectly together and tuned everything using advanced DSP. What we’re saying is: our skilled engineers have spent countless days tweaking everything to make sure that your FENRIS speakers perform at their very best. We’d say that they can easily run laps around most classic speakers that cost many times more. The good part is, that you don’t have to worry about all this technical stuff. Just plug them in and press play!
Designed to impress
In Argon Audio we firmly believe that you also listen with your eyes. That’s why we have designed FENRIS to look the way they sound: impressive and yet elegantly detailed. The front grille is magnetically attached, meaning that even if you do decide to take it off to see the stylish aluminum trim rings, you don’t have to worry about unsightly holes or visible screws on your speaker. FENRIS is available in three good-looking finishes.

Compact Argon Audio Fenris A4 pairs an efficient active design and class‑D amplification with a surprisingly spacious, deeply layered soundstage and an airy, slightly forward treble. HDMI‑ARC, MM phono and Bluetooth 5.0 expand placement and source options, while Michael Bruß highlights its imaging and dynamics that punch above its price.
Pros
- Impressive 3D imaging and layered soundstage with clear separation and scalable virtual staging.
- Airy, resolved treble and quick transients that reveal percussion and cymbal detail comparable to pricier models.
- Very complete connectivity for the class — HDMI ARC, MM phono, Toslink, analogue RCA, Bluetooth 5.0 and a pre-out.
- Active two-way layout with dedicated amplification delivers punchy dynamics and reliable SPL for small/medium rooms.
&
Cons
- Cabinet finish shows visible cost-saving trim and vinyl edges that are less refined than higher-end siblings.
- Limited deep bass extension and some compression at very high SPL — benefits from wall placement or adding a sub for larger rooms.
- Bluetooth omits aptX support, so wireless streaming may be less detailed than codecs-supported alternatives.

Bass
86/100
4" woofer with rear slot port yields notably deep bass 'for its size'—reviewer notes 52Hz spec and good wall-hugging extension; performs well in small/medium rooms but shows compression at very high SPL and benefits from a sub for larger rooms.
Mid
90/100
Lower mids remain clear and intelligible even during dense bass runs; reviewer describes lower mids as 'astonishingly intelligible' with no masking from low frequencies.
Treble
88/100
Slightly forward/presence-leaning top end with incisive cymbals and transient vigor; reviewer cites clear, airy treble comparable to a costlier Forte A5 but with a touch more presence in the lower treble.
Soundstage Imaging
92/100
Excellent phase coherence and layering; reviewer reports deeply layered, 3D imaging with clean separation and scalable virtual stage when seating distance/width increase.
Dynamics
90/100
Active design and driver/amp arrangement give quick impulse response and strong transient punch; reviewer notes surprising impulsiveness and good SPL stability within size-appropriate limits.

Build Quality
83/100
Quality drivers (4" paper woofer, 0.75" neodymium soft-dome) and MDF cabinet but reviewer flags visible cost-cutting in the enclosure finish compared with higher-end models.
Features Connectivity
94/100
Extensive I/O for an active bookshelf: HDMI ARC, Toslink, MM phono, analogue RCA, Bluetooth 5.0, pre-out and USB firmware—reviewer explicitly calls connectivity superior to pricier Forte models.
Value for Money
92/100
At ~€369 the Fenris A4 offers high-end imaging, lively treble and comprehensive connectivity; reviewer repeatedly contrasts its performance and feature set favorably versus costlier Argon Forte siblings.
