Tube Music Server Series is the result of the most sophisticated combination of in-depth multi-disciplinary knowledge, diverse experience and successful technical and technological applied research, music experience, plentifully testing acoustics, recording and sound reproductions by ThivanLabs’ product designers and developers. These are truly great achievements that we have achieved throughout the development history of ThivanLabs. And you’ll feel these wonderful achievements through the sound you’ll experience on our Latest Generation Devices!
Tube Music Server (TMS) is the first station to PROCESS DIGITAL MUSIC FILES and CONVERT INTO ANALOG AUDIO SIGNALS before being amplified by amplifiers and then transmitted to speakers. This means that the more accurately the signal is converted, the more accurately the sound will be amplified and reproduced for the listener. Our designers and engineers truly understand these prerequisites and accordingly the technical design and product development goals of the TMS Series are to transmit signals most accurately and fully. One thing is for sure, listeners will be surprised by the extremely delicate and captivating sound that TMS converts, transmits and reproduces.
Main models of TMS Series include:
TMS products excel at converting high-quality audio formats. Each version is a separate design solution that exploits the strengths of vacuum tube amplification to optimize the signal conversion ability of today’s latest decoding modules and chips.
TMS-3 is a combination of DAC, Audiophile Music Network Player and Streamer features. This model has inherited all great engineering achievements of ThivanLabs DAC designs from the first model in 2013 until the latest models with outstandingly updated and enhanced technical and technological designs today.
The TMS-3 integrates an ES9038 chip for the Digital-to-Analog Converter that has been incredibly successful in the ThivanLabs’s DAC Tube Music Processor TMP-9038 model. “Digital as Analog” is a core design concept for both ThivanLabs’s DAC Tube Music Processor (TMP) and Tube Music Server (TMS). This criterias truly makes the TMP DACs and TMS stand out in the market of high end Digital-to-Analog Converter and Music Network Player – Music Server. The most special point is that all of the TMP DAC and TMS models use ThivanLabs output transformers (OPT) made in-house. This OPT technology has been researched and developed for many years to optimize the sonic signal transfer as pure as possible.
The in-house OPT production is strictly controlled and constantly optimized, the quality and durability of ThivanLabs OPT are super. For the sound, the high dynamic range is a priority. While the noise is always controlled to be at the lowest level, the very high dynamic range brings the purest analog sound with subtlety, authenticity, inspiration, warmth, thickness and details. Using the OPT truly makes the sound detailed and soft at high frequencies while the bass is well controlled but very natural. However, the output transformer is susceptible to interference by the magnetic field of the surrounding equipment such as isolation transformer, power amplifier’s power transformer causing noise and hum sound. Therefore, when setting up the system, it is necessary to keep these jammers away from the tubes on the TMS with a radius of at least 40 centimeters.
The TMS-3 is equipped with a display screen making it easier to use along with a volume remote control.
Almost all of the other DAC and music server devices in the market use the solid state for output with a lot of negative feedback. This solution gives a clean sound but it invisibly filters out all of the harmonics in the process of converting the sonic signals. As a result, the sound, especially the instrument and vocal sound, loses naturalness. Therefore, listeners find that the sound is too digital, emotionless and dry.
In contrast, the use of vacuum tubes for the TMS’s output circuit brings smoothness and authenticity for the sound as well as preserves the true integrity of sound!
The vacuum tube output circuit is single-ended and uses 12AU7 and EL84 vacuum tubes. The entire circuit is Class A without negative feedback to maximize the capabilities of converting the sonic signals to attain the most detailed sound. The high fidelity of music, even the voice vibration of the vocalist or the most detailed sound of musical instruments are preserved and transmitted to the listener.
