Linn 150
Energetic. Refined. Fun.
150 is a modern, high-performance, and compact 3-way loudspeaker. This all-new, passive speaker model is energetic, conspicuously refined – and loads of fun!
Passive Pedigree
Linn has a long history of designing and manufacturing compact hi-fi loudspeakers with excellent performance that belies their size. 150 reflects this pedigree, with a new performance benchmark and the addition of peerless versatility when it comes to building and expanding a system.
150 Selekt System
Pair 150 speakers with a Selekt DSM: Classic Hub, and you will have a future-proof complete system which can be upgraded over time. Upgrade performance from passive to Exakt by adding more internal amplification, upgrade your DAC modules, and apply free-of-charge, capability-enhancing software updates – in big steps, or bit-by-bit – it’s your choice.
Passive floorstanding loudspeaker
With 150, the goal was to create a fundamentally entertaining loudspeaker, but one with refinement, sophistication and neutrality, so that it would play any source material equally well – and equally enjoyably.
150 is fitted with premium drive units, delivering excellent linear performance and excursion capability. Drawing from what we learned during development of our flagship 360 loudspeakers, drive units are mounted at the very front of the baffle, with no grille, to minimise occlusion and improve excursion.
Component quality is high throughout. The lower-order passive crossover in 150 is designed for signal purity and, as a result, lends the speaker speed and dynamism.
Inspired by our flagship 360 loudspeaker is a magnet-mounted trim piece, featuring fine concentric grooves redolent of the surface of a vinyl record and an electro-formed Linn logo which serves as a tweeter guard.
Exakt
By virtue of 150’s 3-way drive unit layout, it is now easier and more attainable than ever to upgrade to the extraordinary performance of Linn’s proprietary Exakt technology. 150 can be converted to Exakt in a matter of minutes, whilst all requisite amplification, DAC modules and the Exakt digital crossover can be contained within a Selekt DSM. Just add speaker cable!

SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 94/100
In the reviewed Selekt DSM system, the Linn 150s are described as exceptionally coherent, detailed and musically involving rather than merely analytical. The review particularly praises tonal evenness, expressive vocals, controlled low frequencies, expansive staging and the ability to retain composure and engagement at high levels.
Bass
94/100
Low frequencies are described as deep, full-bodied and rigorously controlled, with unusually strong texture, timbral variation and detail. The reviewer heard substantial extension without sacrificing definition or rhythmic discipline.
Mid
94/100
The midrange is presented as a particular strength, making voices immediate, articulate and rich in information about tone, technique, character and attitude. This is an expressive, communicative presentation rather than a detached one.
Treble
93/100
Treble is said to have welcome bite and shine while retaining sufficient substance to avoid hardness or excess. The review also notes stable tonality at louder listening levels, suggesting a refined and composed top end.
Soundstage Imaging
93/100
The system is credited with a convincing, expansive soundstage and a direct, positive presentation that makes performers feel vividly present. Imaging is described in unusually immersive terms, though the evidence comes from the complete Linn system rather than alternative partnering.
Dynamics
94/100
The review highlights substantial dynamic headroom, with shifts in attack and intensity remaining clear even at already high volume. Its rhythmic certainty and “vaulting” dynamic expression point to a lively, unconstrained presentation.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
90/100
The cabinet is described as flawlessly built and finished, and the real-oak veneer adds welcome tactility. Its square-edged, sharp-cornered appearance is considered functional rather than visually remarkable, but there is no criticism of fit, finish or execution.
Value for Money
88/100
The reviewer acknowledges that the £9,755 Selekt DSM-and-150 package is a significant investment, while noting that comparable Linn and rival systems can cost considerably more. The recommendation to audition it before making any purchasing decision is emphatic; however, the comments concern the complete system, while the 150 itself is listed at roughly £5,500-£7,805 depending on configuration and finish.
