This product is a limited-quantity model released to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Fostex. It is made of solid black walnut, a high-grade wood, carved in a design reminiscent of traditional Japanese woodwork, and finished in an open-type housing with solid acoustic performance. The headphones are carefully assembled one by one at a factory in Japan, combining a "Japanese" taste with excellent acoustic construction, and can be enjoyed as a new premium headphone.

At VGP 2024 Winter, one of the largest audiovisual awards in Japan, "TH616" won the Gold Award in the category of open-type overhead headphones (between 100,000 yen and 150,000 yen) in the Lifestyle Subcommittee.

Features

The housing is made of solid natural wood. Therefore, there may be differences in grain, bark, coloration, knots, etc. in each housing, but this will not affect the sound quality. Please be aware of this.

Open housing machined from solid black walnut in a shape reminiscent of a luminous glow

The housing is machined from solid black walnut, a high-grade wood, and the open-type aperture is designed to resemble a glow of light, a fantastic natural phenomenon created by sunlight shining through gaps in trees. This machined design not only reduces weight and ensures rigidity, but also avoids uniformity of the housing surface and reduces unwanted resonance by suppressing the generation of modal vibrations. In addition, in order to eliminate the effect on sound caused by resonance of open apertures, all apertures are of different areas to suppress the occurrence of resonance at specific frequencies.

The Biodyna diaphragm is made of ultra-fine bio-cellulose fiber material.

Utilizing know-how accumulated over many years, bio-cellulose fiber is blended with other fibers and other materials under optimal conditions. Low specific gravity, high Young’s modulus and high internal loss are realized. In addition to reproducing delicate, high-resolution and beautiful mid-high frequencies, the free edge with its good linearity faithfully reproduces low mid-range frequencies with large amplitude.

Ultra-strong magnetic circuit

The magnetic circuit is equipped with a 50mm driver unit with a magnetic flux density of 1 Tesla. The ultra-strong magnetic circuit provides low distortion and a wide dynamic range.

High-quality, lightweight mechanical parts

Aluminum is used extensively for mechanical parts to achieve high quality and light weight. High specific gravity type resin is used for the baffle plate to reduce resonance noise, resulting in high resolution, rich mid-range, and high-quality bass reproduction.

Detachable connector port

The terminals on the cable side and the contact points for connection and disconnection on the headphone body side are rhodium-plated for high hardness, abrasion resistance, and corrosion resistance, enhancing reliability. The ET-H3.0N7BL replacement balanced cable (sold separately) can be used for balanced connections.
