Bowers & Wilkins DB3D
Despite its compact dimensions, DB3D delivers astonishingly powerful, controlled bass thanks to its twin 8-in Aerofoil™ drivers, amplifier and digital signal processing.
- 2 x 200mm (8 in) Aerofoil™ Cone Drive Units in a Balanced Configuration
- Digital Preamplifier with Dynamic EQ
- App-Based Set-Up and BT-LE Control
Power packed
DB3D's tight, powerful, dramatic bass and compact size make it the perfect match for the 804 D4 and 805 D4 speakers.
More bass, less space
Compact model packs a mighty punch. Controllable, dramatic bass from a subwoofer so small it fits almost anywhere: DB3D is a space-saving high-performance design.
Nimble and powerful
Solid, dramatic bass is delivered through the rigidity and lightness of the uniquely-shaped, variable thickness Aerofoil™ cone.
A question of balance
The back-to-back (opposed) drivers cancel out cabinet resonances, ensuring all that power is used to create room-shaking bass, not wasted vibrations.
The digital advantage
Digital amplification is cool-running and energy efficient, even when working hard, while Dynamic EQ and Room EQ ensure a precise sound for music and movies.
Take control
By placing control in the palm of your hand, our subwoofer app not only makes our DB Series subwoofers a snap to set up, it also helps maximize your sound quality.
The perfect match
DB3D’s ultra-rigid low-resonance enclosure comes in three finishes to match 800 Series Diamond and 700 Series loudspeakers.

The DB3D brings near-infrasonic depth and controlled, seamless bass to a remarkably compact enclosure. Audiophilepure found it uncovers the full bass palette in demanding music, while Alpha Audio praised its convincing cinema-scale impact. App-based tuning and room measurement make this a poised, potent partner for serious two-channel or home-theater systems.

Bass
94/100
Audiophilepure heard the DB3D reproduce a difficult, near-infrasonic bass line with an effortless sense of the full bass palette, calling the result “endgame-quality fidelity.” Alpha Audio was likewise impressed by the depth available from such a compact enclosure and found its home-cinema performance convincingly powerful.
Integration
91/100
The DB3D was reported to work very well with Bowers & Wilkins 705 S3 and 703 S3 speakers in music systems. Alpha Audio describes a properly positioned setup as tighter with less smearing, and says the sub is audible when needed but otherwise stays out of the way of the rest of the sound.
Dynamics
87/100
Audiophilepure found that a pair of DB3Ds added the right amount of impact with larger floorstanders. Alpha Audio also found the DB3D capable of delivering an impressive cinematic experience, though the review provides less direct detail about ultimate output headroom at very high levels.
Build Quality
50/100
Alpha Audio notes the substantial 1,000-watt Class D amplifier and opposed 8-inch Aerofoil drivers, arranged to cancel resonances. The reviews say little about cabinet finish, long-term durability, or overall construction quality in use.
Features Usability
90/100
Alpha Audio found that the app provides access to the important adjustments and includes iOS acoustic measurement capability. Bluetooth setup was reported as straightforward and trouble-free: select the subwoofer in the app and configure it.
Value for Money
85/100
The reviews identify the DB3D as a premium-priced subwoofer, with Alpha Audio listing it at around €2,449 and positioning it alongside Bowers & Wilkins’ higher-end speaker ranges. Neither review offers a direct comparison with similarly priced rivals or a clear verdict on whether it represents standout value.
