From front door to garden gate, Shelly’s new sensors keep the smart home in the loop

Sofia, Bulgaria, 8 October 2026 – Shelly is expanding its smart home range with two new door and window sensors, first previewed at IFA 2026 in Berlin and now available to buy. They are designed to make everyday home comfort, monitoring and automation easier.

 

The new Shelly BLU Door/Window Mini ZB brings open/close, tilt and light sensing to a compact design that fits neatly onto smaller frames, while Shelly BLU Door/Window Outdoor ZB extends smart monitoring to outdoor spaces including garages, sheds, gates and greenhouses.

 

Together, the devices can help a home respond automatically to what is happening around it. Heating can adjust when a window is opened, a light can come on when a cupboard or storage space is opened in the dark, or a notification can be triggered if a garage door has been left open.

 

Shelly BLU Door/Window Mini ZB: small sensor, smarter routines

Designed for doors and windows where space is limited, Shelly BLU Door/Window Mini ZB combines several smart home functions in one compact, battery-powered sensor.

 

As well as detecting whether a door or window is open or closed, it can measure its tilt angle. This means a smart home can distinguish between a window that has been opened fully and one that has simply been tilted for ventilation. That extra information can be used to create more useful automations. Opening a window could automatically change the heating or air conditioning to a predefined mode, while tilting it could activate a different ventilation routine.

 

A built-in light sensor also measures ambient light levels. This can be used for everyday automations such as switching on a light when a cupboard, pantry or other enclosed space is opened in low-light conditions. Its compact size makes the sensor particularly suited to narrow window and door frames where a standard-sized device may be too bulky.

 

Shelly BLU Door/Window Mini ZB supports both Zigbee 3.0 and Bluetooth 5 LE, giving users flexibility over how they add it to their smart home. It can connect to compatible Zigbee hubs and platforms, while compatible Shelly Plus, Pro, Gen3 and Gen4 devices can act as a Bluetooth gateway.

 

Communication is encrypted, and the included CR2032 battery provides up to two years of operation depending on usage and conditions. The sensor will be available in white, black and brown and comes with a two-year warranty.

 

Shelly BLU Door/Window Outdoor ZB takes smart monitoring outside

Shelly BLU Door/Window Outdoor ZB brings the same type of smart monitoring to spaces beyond the main home. Designed for locations including garage doors, garden sheds, outdoor gates and greenhouse windows, its IP55-rated enclosure is built for outdoor use and operates in temperatures from -20°C to 40°C.

 

The sensor monitors both open/close status and inclination angle, making it possible to create automations around how an outdoor door or window is being used rather than simply whether it is open. For example, users could receive a notification if a garage door has remained open for too long, trigger outdoor or garage lighting when it is opened, or use tilt information as part of a greenhouse ventilation routine.

 

Its battery provides up to five years of operation, helping reduce maintenance in locations that may be less convenient to access. Shelly BLU Door/Window Outdoor ZB supports Zigbee 3.0 and Bluetooth 5 LE, with encrypted communication. It can connect to compatible third-party Zigbee hubs and platforms or use a compatible Shelly Plus, Pro, Gen3 or Gen4 device as a Bluetooth gateway.

 

The sensor will be available in Ivory, Black and Mocha and comes with a two-year warranty.
