YG Acoustics XV 3
Our Reference range offers the very best that can be achieved in accuracy and musicality. We are honored that these models are some of the most awarded loudspeakers in the world. They combine advanced materials with cutting edge science and engineering. Designed without compromise, their singular aim is transporting listeners into the heart of the music.
XV 3 is an extreme, four-tower loudspeaker system which will redefine what you think is possible: the finest microdetails placed exactly in a broad and deep holographic audio space; unmatched scale and faultless timing. XV 3 is an entirely new sonic benchmark. With the revolutionary Lattice tweeter, nine BilletCore drivers and our most extreme implementation of the Ultracoherent crossover, it is an acoustic, scientific and engineering marvel.
The Reference speakers are structured from high-grade aerospace aluminum, machined in-house to an incredible precision. They are meticulously hand-built by experts in our Colorado and Cambridge workshops.
The Reference 3 models include new technologies and design innovations based on novel theoretical models, detailed multi-domain simulations and thousands of hours of listening. The end result: loudspeakers which convey every nuance of emotion, each musical cue from the tiniest microdetail to the visceral impact of the most thunderous crescendo.
An entirely new, hybrid Lattice tweeter uses a novel airframe in a specially-selected aerospace alloy, machined by YG Acoustics. It delivers exceptionally low distortion over a huge bandwidth, with wide angular dispersion to support a large sweet-spot.
The dual 15 cm (6”) midrange, triple 18.5 cm (7.25”) midbass and quad 26 cm (10.25”) bass drivers use advanced motors and YG proprietary aluminum cones, delivering industry-leading performance.
Groundbreaking, third-generation Ultracoherent crossovers apply a deep understanding from simulation to deliver performance never before possible.

Massive, reference-class floor‑standers deliver mesmerising low-end authority and finely detailed highs thanks to an ultracoherent crossover and obsessive, pair-specific tuning that yields exceptional timing and precision matching. With deep bass extension, aerospace-grade construction and custom components, the XV 3 Signature presents a level of resolution and engineering that impressed Brian Mitchell at ecoustics.
Pros
- Pair-specific crossover tuning and extreme component matching produce exceptional phase coherence and timbral accuracy.
- Innovative, bespoke components (special capacitor foil, high-grade resistors/inductors) and R&D-driven design yield ultra-low distortion and very high resolution.
- Reference-level engineering and heavy aerospace-aluminum cabinets deliver outstanding stability, resonance control and build quality.

Cons
- Low sensitivity and a ~3 Ω minimum impedance require very high-current, powerful amplification to realize full dynamics.
- Extremely high price places these in an ultra-luxury category, limiting appeal to a very small buyer segment.
Sound Quality

Bass
97/100
Manufacturer specs: quad 26 cm (10.25") BilletCore drivers plus triple 7.25" woofers and 'usable output extends from below 20 Hz' indicate reference-class low-frequency extension and authority. Exceptional cabinet size/weight and advanced motor design support deep, controlled bass; minimal caution only from low sensitivity (88 dB) requiring powerful amplification.
Mid
96/100
Ultracoherent 4-way crossover with tight phase alignment (±15° where outputs are within 20 dB) and high-quality components (pure metal foil caps, foil resistors) point to extremely accurate timbre and coherent crossover-region performance. Design emphasis on phase and transient response supports very natural vocal presence and coherence.
Treble
97/100
Lattice hybrid tweeter with advanced airframe and claimed response to 40 kHz plus 'exceptionally low distortion' suggests outstanding extension, detail and refinement without harshness. High quality driver and crossover work implies excellent on-axis smoothness and airy top end.
Soundstage Imaging
96/100
Four-tower configuration, exceptional phase alignment and large driver array indicate wide, deep soundstaging with precise image focus and layering. Physical height and array geometry should produce expansive 3D presentation when well-placed in room.
Dynamics
93/100
Specs claim 'exceptionally low distortion' and optimized transient response, supporting excellent micro/macro dynamics and slam. Sensitivity of 88 dB and 3 Ω minimum impedance suggest the speakers need substantial, high-current amplification to fully realize dynamic potential, which constrains practical headroom for some users.

Build Quality
98/100
Dual-layer aerospace aluminum cabinets with constrained-layer damping, BilletCore drivers and computationally optimized crossover layouts point to reference-level engineering and finish. Very heavy (225 kg per speaker) and premium parts imply world-class cabinet rigidity and resonance control.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive baseline applied.
Value for Money
68/100
Performance appears to be reference-level based on engineering and claimed measurements, but the extremely high price (~$398k) places these in an ultra-luxury bracket; value is excellent only for very well-heeled buyers seeking top-tier performance, less so versus more affordable high-end alternatives.
