YG Acoustics Descent
The Peaks series includes five new speaker models plus a powered subwoofer, each performing at a new reference level for their price point. They excel in any size room, across all genres of music, and are offered in high quality finishes to suit every style of home.
Descent is an active, DSP-powered subwoofer providing the very highest musical performance possible. A top tier 1000 W full frequency amplifier drives an entirely new, 28 cm (11") YG proprietary aluminum cone driver with a 7.5 cm (3″) voice coil, titanium former and advanced magnet structure. Effortless dynamics and incredible musicality extend to the very lowest bass frequencies.
The DSP filters are based on advanced computational modeling, state-of-the-art measurements and extensive listening tests, with presets frequency and phase curves to accompany bookshelf, small floor-stander and large floor-stander speakers.
Throughout the development process, quality was never compromised. Descent's custom driver is mounted in a thick aluminum front baffle, precision machined in-house to a profile guided by detailed computational modeling.
Sealed cabinet bodies are made from inch-thick dense resin fiber, curved to exact tolerances in custom presses by experienced European workshops. They include advanced bracing and acoustic absorbers which eliminate cabinet resonances and reflections.
Through its unique combination of cutting-edge science and engineering, Descent represents an approach with no compromises. Everything from the driver, cabinet and amplifier, through to the veneer, lacquer and internal cabling has been carefully selected and modeled to deliver the most accurate, most musical performance possible.

Rooted in a muscular 1,000 W amplifier and a bespoke 11" BilletCore driver, the Descent delivers deep, articulate bass with tight control and musical agility. Its advanced DSP presets help it integrate seamlessly with mains, while reviewers note premium build and flexible I/O. As Audiophilepure observed, it refines low-end impact without boom.
Pros
- 1,000 W amplifier and bespoke 11" BilletCore driver deliver deep, controlled bass with usable extension and low distortion.
- Advanced DSP with frequency and phase presets enables tight integration with different mains and preserves timing and articulation.
- Premium materials and impeccable build quality produce a refined finish that matches the subwoofer's high-end performance.

Cons
- Reviewer noted relatively limited user-accessible bass-adjustment and control options compared with expectations for a DSP-driven sub.
Sound Quality
91/100
Bass
92/100
Reviewers report deep, useable extension — the Descent "produced useful bass extension down to the low 20-Hz region" — and applaud its articulation and lack of boom. The subwoofer is described as producing bass with "excellent articulation and tautness," remaining controlled even at loud levels.
Dynamics
90/100
The system is praised for "agility and dynamic sonic characteristics," with music presented at intended pace and rhythm. The Descent is said to "maintain its composure," delivering taut, well-articulated bass without sounding sloppy even at higher volumes.
Integration
90/100
Reported outcomes show strong blending with the Tor mains: the reviewer notes the Tor speakers can "disappear in their soundstage canvas" and that the Descent "filled in the void of the Tor speakers in the deep-bass region." The language describes practical, seamless complements to the speakers rather than only listing features.
Build Quality
94/100
The Descent (and YG package) is repeatedly described as having "high-quality materials and craftsmanship," an "elegant appearance," and "impeccable build quality and finish," indicating premium construction and fit-and-finish.
Features Connectivity
82/100
Hardware and DSP are comprehensive (XLR, RCA, high-level input, DSP filter), but the reviewer explicitly requested "More bass adjustment and control features (Descent)." Good connectivity exists, yet reviewer-desired user controls are somewhat lacking.
Value for Money
72/100
The package is described as delivering "top-notch quality," but the reviewer hedges that "value is in the eye of the beholder." Given the premium price (~$9,800) and absence of explicit "no-brainer" value language, value is ranked conservatively.
