Detachable 3.5mm and 4.4mm balanced cables add welcome versatility.

&
Cons
Bass reaches deep but lacks some definition and fine detail, especially with less capable sources or relentless beat-driven material.
Uneven high-mid and treble emphasis compromises tonal accuracy for classical, jazz, and other harmonically complex music.
High-mid presence can pull images forward, making soundstage depth feel less accurate.
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 86/100
Reviewers find the ATH-MSR7b composed, spacious and impressively detailed, with a generally balanced presentation that avoids the usual closed-back “cupped” character. Its main sonic reservations concern bass definition and an uneven frequency balance that makes it less convincing for accuracy-focused acoustic and classical listening.
Bass
83/100
Hi-Fi Choice finds the bass commendably deep, but says it lacks some definition and fine detail. MajorHifi hears added kick-drum energy and impact, while noting that the low end remains spacious rather than cloudy.
Midrange
83/100
MajorHifi hears an open midrange, aided by a slight low-mid dip, with high-mid instruments such as guitars and horns stepping forward clearly. That contour also contributes to a less even tonal balance, making harmonically complex acoustic music less natural than more forgiving material.
Treble
84/100
Hi-Fi Choice says the ATH-MSR7b is very difficult to provoke into brightness or harshness. MajorHifi finds treble texture pleasing and nuanced, but identifies several areas of emphasis and unevenness that compromise strict tonal accuracy.
Resolution Detail
89/100
Hi-Fi Choice praises the headphone’s ability to resolve fine detail without making it sound forced or unnatural. MajorHifi likewise hears specific instrumental textures and enhanced clarity from instruments with high-mid energy.
Soundstage Imaging
89/100
Hi-Fi Choice hears unusually open space and three-dimensionality for a closed-back design, giving vocals room to breathe. MajorHifi also finds convincing width and height, although high-mid presence can pull images forward and make depth feel somewhat skewed.
Dynamics
87/100
Hi-Fi Choice reports enough agility and swagger on The Chemical Brothers to make the performance feel involving and energetic. It adds that the headphone gives up some ground to rivals with relentlessly pounding beat-driven music.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Comfort Fit
50/100
The supplied reviews do not meaningfully discuss clamp force, pad comfort, heat buildup or long-session wearability. Its 237g weight alone does not establish how it will fit different listeners.
Build Quality
50/100
The supplied reviews say little about materials, long-term durability, hinges or overall construction quality. The available information confirms detachable cables, but does not provide a reviewer-led assessment of craftsmanship or longevity.
Features Usability
84/100
The ATH-MSR7b includes detachable A2DC cables in both 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced terminations, plus a carrying pouch. This is a practical wired setup for portable and balanced-source use, though the reviews provide little comment on day-to-day ergonomics.
Value for Money
85/100
At approximately $220–$249, the ATH-MSR7b sits in a competitive mid-priced wired-headphone segment. None of the supplied reviews directly assess whether it represents especially strong or weak value against its peers.
