Value for Money

Yukiseimitsu Audio’s AP-01EM pairs rhythmic certainty with a remarkably black background, using a high-torque thread drive and magnetic bearing to make records sound vivid, poised and unforced. Michael Fremer found exceptional midband neutrality, clean instrumental separation, firm bass control and exquisite machining—an uncompromising analog platform for revealing systems.

What Reviewers Are Saying

"The build-quality and ease and pleasure of use are off the visual and tactile charts."

— The Absolute Sound

Pros

Exceptionally quiet, well-isolated platform with a very low noise floor and outstanding resistance to impulse interference.

Strong torque and excellent measured speed stability deliver confident timing and rhythmic grip.

Neutral, spacious presentation with clean midrange separation, firm controlled bass and convincing tonal balance.

Exquisite machining, superior fit and finish, plus straightforward setup and use.

Cons

The tonearm occasionally stuck in place during the review, requiring a small nudge to resume movement.

Pitch controls can be changed accidentally if brushed, and restoring calibration requires a strobe disc.

SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 95/100

The AP-01 is described as rhythmically certain, tonally neutral and unusually quiet, combining the drive and control associated with direct- or idler-drive designs with a suave, unforced presentation. Review listening found clean separation, convincing midrange timbre, firm bass control and strong resolving power.

Overall Sound

96/100

Fremer found the presentation notably neutral through the midband, with instruments cleanly separated and reproduced with unforced ease. He praised its rhythmic grip, firm and full low end, and a combination of timing, timbral balance and musical ease that made this his most inviting experience with the Shure V15VmxR.

Speed Stability

95/100

Measured results were extremely strong, at 0.02% RMS wow and flutter and 0.094% jitter. The thread-drive system also delivered surprisingly strong torque and rhythmic certainty despite the potential complication of a drive-thread knot.

Tonearm Performance

90/100

The static-balance arm is described as precision made, solid in feel and straightforward to set up. It tracked securely with three cartridges at their specified tracking forces, although the arm briefly stuck in place before a small nudge freed it.

Noise Isolation

96/100

Impulse isolation in the tap test was described as among the best encountered by the reviewer. Background quiet was an exceptional strength as well, placed among the very quietest top-tier turntables heard.

Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.

Build Quality

96/100

The review characterizes the AP-01's machining, fit and finish as exquisite and superior. Its arm also feels solid and precision made, while the substantial platter, magnetic bearing and carefully executed drive system support the impression of an unusually refined mechanical platform.

Features Usability

83/100

This is a focused high-end manual design rather than a convenience-led turntable, but it supports 33⅓, 45 and 78rpm playback. The arm was found easy to set up and use, with successful tracking across several cartridges, though there are no reported automatic functions, integrated phono stage or digital connectivity.

Value for Money

85/100

The review conveys exceptional performance and finish, but does not directly assess whether the AP-01 represents especially strong value against competing turntables. Its price was not supplied, so there is no published price-and-peer comparison to draw on.
