To get the best sound quality of your headphones, an external headphone amplifier is needed. In collaboration with degreed engineer Frank Blöhbaum we developed the KHV-200. It was designed that almost every headphone could be driven with the best sound quality. Beside a 6.3mm headphone socket it also has an 4 pin XLR socket for the connection of high end headphones.

Vincent KHV-200 — warm, refined tube headphone amp with keen value

The Vincent KHV-200 pairs a tube front end (2 x E180F/6SCH9P, 1 x ECC82) with solid solid-state control to deliver a clean, musical presentation that favors midrange warmth and articulate treble extension. Its measured 20 Hz–20 kHz response and very low THD promise accurate reproduction, while the tube stage adds natural-sounding microdynamics and a pleasing tonal richness. Performance highlights include lively dynamics, a quiet-ish noise floor for full-size headphones, and flexible output options: unbalanced RCA, a 6.3 mm jack and a balanced 4‑pin XLR.

Build quality is robust and compact, with thoughtful connectivity for desktop systems. The KHV-200 suits listeners who want tube character without paying flagship prices — a point noted by Audiophilepure. Its combination of musicality, features and perceived value makes it a compelling pick for headphone enthusiasts.

Audiophilepure

"When you look at the significantly higher prices of the competition, this price tag could make you suspect that the KHV might be a case of false advertising after all."

Pros

  • Excellent value compared with significantly pricier rivals, making tube sound more accessible.
  • Musical, slightly warm tube-inflected sound with low measured distortion and good dynamics for its class.
  • Solid desktop build and practical connectivity (RCA in/out, 6.3 mm jack and balanced 4‑pin XLR) suited to full-size headphones.

&

Cons

  • Noise floor is good but not reference‑silent; faint hiss may be audible with ultra-sensitive IEMs.

Sound Quality

87/100

Low measured distortion and solid design suggest good transient response and headroom for most material. The tube stage adds perceived musical liveliness and engaging micro-dynamics, even if it won't match the slam of the highest-power solid-state desktop amps. Review context positions it favorably against more expensive competition, supporting strong dynamic performance for its class.

Noise Floor

79/100

Specified Signal-to-Noise Ratio >95 dB indicates a generally quiet background but not reference-level silence. As a tube-front-end design, some slight noise or tube hiss is possible; suitable and quiet for most full-size headphones but there may be faint hiss with ultra-sensitive IEMs. No reviewers called it 'dead quiet' or 'reference-level silence', so score reflects good but not perfect noise performance.

Headphone Compatibility

84/100

Balanced 4‑pin XLR headphone output and two gain settings (Low: -2.66 dB; High: +13.64 dB) give useful flexibility across headphone types. Lack of published output impedance and absent power numbers limit ability to guarantee driving very demanding planars, but balanced output and gain stages make it a strong match for most full-size headphones and many sensitive cans.

Build Quality

88/100

Vincent units are generally solidly constructed; the KHV-200's metal chassis, modest weight (3.6 kg) and neat layout indicate good workmanship. The presence of tube sockets and quality connectors (RCA pre/rec, 6.3 mm and 4‑pin XLR outputs) supports a well-built desktop product with durable components.

Features Connectivity

85/100

Baseline amp features (2x RCA inputs, RCA pre/rec outs) are present, plus a balanced 4‑pin XLR headphone output (+3) and dual gain settings (+1), and a preamp RCA out (+1). There is no built-in DAC or digital inputs, so overall feature count is solid for a dedicated tube headphone amp but not full-featured streaming/DAC territory.

Value for Money

90/100

The single review explicitly frames the KHV-200 as attractively priced compared with significantly pricier competition, implying strong value. Language in the review suggests Vincent's pricing strategy makes this amp a compelling option in its segment ('price tag could make you suspect... false advertising'), supporting a positive value assessment.
