With weighty, agile bass and an impressively spacious presentation, the Triangle Borea BR03 brings real scale to stand-mount listening. Hi-Fi Choice praised its potent low-end control, while Diego Estan admired its rich, open midrange and focused imaging. Easy to drive and front-ported for flexible placement, it is a spirited, high-value choice for smaller rooms.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Pros
Punchy, controlled bass gives this stand-mount unusually satisfying weight and speed.
Wide, three-dimensional imaging with stable centre focus helps the cabinets disappear from the soundstage.
Easy-to-drive nature and energetic dynamics suit a broad range of systems and engaging listening.
&
Cons
Treble can sound slightly peaky or bright with lively electronics, direct on-axis listening, or challenging recordings.
Bass is quick and punchy rather than exceptionally deep or full-bodied; some listeners may prefer a subwoofer for greater low-end extension.
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 88/100
The BR03 is widely praised as an energetic, spacious and musically engaging stand-mount with unusually substantial scale for its size. Its forward, lively balance and occasional upper-frequency edge mean system matching and room setup matter more than with the most neutral rivals.
Bass
89/100
For a 16cm front-ported stand-mount, reviewers consistently found the bass weighty, punchy and controlled. Hi-Fi Choice calls it the speaker's standout area, while SoundStage found useful output approaching 40Hz, though several reviewers note it is not the fullest or deepest bass available from similarly sized rivals.
Mid
88/100
Many reviewers highlight an open, rich and expressive midrange, particularly with voices; SoundStage compared its inviting presentation favourably with far more expensive Focal monitors. The presentation is forward rather than strictly neutral, however, and Erin's Audio Corner and Cheap Audio Man heard a recessed lower midrange or reduced midband clarity.
Treble
85/100
The treble is generally praised for air, extension and detail, with several reviewers finding it smooth or non-fatiguing in sympathetic systems. There is repeated caution that it can sound bright, slightly peaky or sibilant with lively electronics, difficult recordings, or direct on-axis listening.
Soundstage Imaging
91/100
Imaging is a clear strength: reviewers report stable centre images, strong separation and a broad, tall presentation that often extends beyond the cabinets. SoundStage and DMS particularly praise how effectively the BR03 disappears, although Hi-Fi Choice found its spread less expansive than the best alternatives.
Dynamics
90/100
The BR03 is regularly described as quick, expressive and willing to play loudly without strain, bringing punch and momentum to music and cinema. Hi-Fi Choice and hi-fi+ praise its speed and broad dynamic swings, while Erin's Audio Corner reports compression and distortion becoming more apparent at higher output levels.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
87/100
Reviewers find the cabinet substantial and thoughtfully engineered, citing internal MDF/EVA reinforcement, bracing, solid terminals and neatly executed joins. The vinyl finish is not as luxurious as some rivals' cosmetic treatments, but the BR03 does not come across as cheap or lightly built.
Value for Money
91/100
At roughly $350-$550 or £399 per pair depending on market and finish, most reviewers consider the BR03 an unusually compelling option among affordable stand-mount speakers. What Hi-Fi says it can trouble class leaders, while SoundStage Access calls it a steal and says it punches above its weight; Cheap Audio Man is the notable dissenting voice, finding $550 hard to justify.
