Totem Acoustic KIN ONE
The NEW KIN ONE was created to provide a simple yet remarkable audio solution. When paired with the KIN AMP it will ensure a musical, lifelike performance.
The KIN ONE doesn’t follow in the steps of its predecessor as it’s blazing ahead of virtually every small speaker made today. Taking advantage of Totem’s latest developments in both driver development and cabinet geometry it provides an addictive auditory and aesthetic experience. In our very prolonged listening sessions during its development, people commented on how it instinctively adapted to all music types and contributed to the listeners’ wanting to hear more!
Pace, timbre and correct tone contriving with the gigantic imaging to give the listener a spellbinding experience.
Physically smaller yet capable of handling more power, the KIN ONE not only punches well above its weight, but it also effortlessly handles the challenges normally presented to much larger speakers and surpasses these on most critical aspects.
Pair it with a KIN AMP and marvel at the large soundstage and message they synergistically create together.
Bass is powerful, fast and musical. Nothing is more important than creating Totem’s sonic signature than phase linearity and KIN One offers just that. The carefully designed and chosen drivers result in a harmonious interaction, creating the perfect phase response that provides our three dimensional, almost holographic soundstage.
KIN ONE speakers not only image in-between their individual positions but also towards the outside of their axis (both vertical and horizontal). In placing the Bookshelf speakers in room, one may optimize their performance by placing them closer to one another.
The KIN ONE can conveniently be wall mounted with the appropriate bracket. At the back of the KIN ONE is a threaded insert (1/4” -20) that allows the speakers to be mounted directly on the wall. It is best to place them very close to the ceiling.

Small cabinets conceal a surprisingly big, detailed sound — a compact monitor that projects a broad soundstage and notably natural midrange, praised by reviewers such as SoundStage Solo and ecoustics. Totem's tuning and MHEX/titanium drivers deliver clarity and imaging for small rooms and desktop listening, while placement and pairing shape its best performance.
Pros
- Surprisingly big, detailed presentation from a very compact enclosure—delivers more scale than its size suggests.
- Strong, natural midrange and stable imaging that produces a wide, well-defined soundstage for small-room listening.
- Thoughtful engineering and finish options—quality drivers, MHEX cone, L-shaped port and minimalist crossover yield solid build and presentation.
&
Cons
- Limited deep-bass extension for larger rooms or bass-heavy genres; reviewers recommend a subwoofer for full-range impact.
- Can sound a touch bright on some recordings and may need EQ or careful placement to tame treble and a mild mid dip noted in measurements.
Sound Quality
88/100
Bass
86/100
For a compact 4" woofer cabinet the Kin One delivers commendable low-frequency extension and controlled bass 'for its size'—reviewers note an L-shaped port that allows information below 65Hz and even a hint at 40Hz (-12dB). Multiple reviews also recommend a subwoofer for full-band music (rock/very deep bass), so while the bass is impressive for the form factor it lacks deep impact for all genres.
Mid
90/100
Reviewers consistently praise the midrange: vocals, strings and saxes are described as smooth, silky and well-textured. One measurement-based writeup noted a mild mid dip requiring EQ awareness, but listening notes emphasize natural timbre and strong presence that belies the speaker's size.
Treble
86/100
The 1" titanium-infused soft-dome tweeter is matched to the woofer and cabinet for coherent phase and good detail; reviewers call the treble refined though occasionally a touch bright on certain recordings. Some measured roll-off in the highest frequencies was reported, and a slight brightness was noted on sibilant material.
Soundstage Imaging
91/100
Multiple reviewers highlight a broad, deep soundstage with stable imaging and well-placed instruments; stereo width stretches convincingly from speaker to speaker. Placement sensitivity is noted, but when positioned per recommendations the Kin One projects an expansive, focused sound for its size.
Dynamics
86/100
Dynamics are lively and punchy for small monitors—percussive strikes and transient detail reproduced with good control and no apparent slop. Headroom is naturally limited by cabinet size (noted inability to fill a large room at high SPL), so dynamics excel within nearfield/ small-room use.

Build Quality
90/100
Totem uses quality drivers, a minimalist well-executed crossover and thoughtful cabinet geometry; packaging, finish options and a five-year speaker warranty underline solid craftsmanship. Reviewers call out good internal design (L-shaped port, MHEX cone) and premium presentation.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive bookshelf baseline applied: single-post passive speakers scored at the fixed baseline. Reviews note Totem's optional Kin Amp (with aptX HD Bluetooth, digital inputs and sub output) as a recommended powered pairing but the passive speaker itself remains a straightforward two-terminal design.
Value for Money
92/100
At about $599/pair reviewers repeatedly describe the Kin One as punching above its price—'performs far beyond its price point' and 'surprisingly big sound'—making it an easy recommendation for small-room/desktop buyers who accept the need for a sub for some music.
