Your sound, just how you like it

Make your music more natural
When an original music source is compressed, it loses the high-frequency elements that add detail and richness to a track. Our Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) faithfully restores these to produce high-quality sound that’s closer to the original recording.

The Sony WH-CH520 pairs balanced, engaging sound with a controlled deep bass that keeps rhythms tidy and vocals clear. What Hi-Fi? also highlights its lightweight comfort, robust everyday build, 50-hour battery and Bluetooth Multipoint—an unusually complete package for listeners seeking lively, neutral wireless listening on a modest budget.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Pros
Balanced, engaging and convincingly neutral sound, with controlled deep bass and articulate vocals for the price.
Excellent 50-hour battery life, including useful USB-C fast charging.
Lightweight, padded fit and solid construction make them comfortable and built for everyday use.
Bluetooth Multipoint and a useful app with EQ controls add strong budget-friendly usability.
&
Cons
Fine-detail retrieval and large-scale dynamic contrasts are limited compared with more expensive headphones.
No active noise cancellation, and the plastic finish feels inexpensive.
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 85/100
What Hi-Fi finds the WH-CH520 notably balanced, neutral and engaging for an inexpensive wireless model. Bass is controlled, vocals project clearly, and treble has welcome body, though fine-detail retrieval and dynamic contrasts are limited compared with pricier headphones.
Bass
90/100
The low end is described as solid, deep and controlled at its leading edges. It hits reasonably hard while staying out of the midrange, helping the headphones communicate rhythm confidently.
Midrange
86/100
Ultimate clarity is not a strength, but the midrange is informative and especially articulate with vocals at this price. It integrates smoothly with bass and treble, leaving singers their own defined space.
Treble
87/100
Treble is said to balance brightness and substance effectively. High-frequency sounds retain body as well as shine, avoiding an overly thin or brittle presentation.
Resolution Detail
84/100
What Hi-Fi notes that greater fine-detail retrieval is available from more expensive headphones. Even so, the review considers that limitation appropriate to the price rather than a major weakness.
Soundstage Imaging
80/100
The review does not directly assess soundstage width, imaging precision or depth. It does note that vocals occupy a small but distinct area of space within the mix.
Dynamics
81/100
The headphones make quiet-to-loud changes audible, but their dynamic expression is described as somewhat inhibited. They deliver rhythmic confidence without making large contrasts feel especially dramatic.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Comfort Fit
87/100
What Hi-Fi calls the WH-CH520 comfortable. The review provides little further detail on clamp, heat buildup or particularly long listening sessions.
Build Quality
87/100
The review characterizes these headphones as built to last, a strong endorsement for an affordable lightweight wireless design. It does not provide detailed commentary on materials, hinges or long-term component wear.
Features Usability
88/100
Bluetooth Multipoint is a useful inclusion, letting the headphones work with more than one source device. The review also praises the generous battery life, while the supplied accessories are limited to a USB charging cable.
Value for Money
92/100
At $69.99, What Hi-Fi considers the WH-CH520 to sound great for the money. Its controlled, engaging tuning, comfort, battery life and Multipoint support make it a particularly compelling option among low-cost wireless headphones.
