Value for Money

78/100

Room-shaking bass is the headline: the ULT TOWER 9AC pairs tunable low end with dual ULT modes and broad high-frequency dispersion from four tweeters, delivering authentic 360° Party Sound plus synchronized lighting for immersive events. App control and optical input expand connectivity, and the Post Malone collaboration is highlighted by Best of High End.

Pros

Tunable bass with ULT1/ULT2 modes lets users choose deep or punchy low end tailored to party or music listening.

Wide, room-filling coverage and clarity from a multi‑driver array (including four tweeters) combined with 360° Party Sound and synchronized lights for large gatherings.

Robust feature set and connectivity—Sound Connect app compatibility, optical input, karaoke/guitar support and TV Sound Booster—make it versatile beyond just music playback.

SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 84/100

Bass

88/100

Driver complement lists woofer + multiple mid/tweeter elements and the product is positioned as a party tower, implying emphasis on low end. At $749, Sony likely tunes for impactful, room-filling bass for casual/listening-party use; lacking review measurements, score is generous but conservative relative to multi-woofer towers.

Mid

85/100

Configuration includes woofer/mid (L/R), suggesting dedicated midrange drivers for vocal and instrumental clarity. No reviewer timbre data available; score assumes competent voicing typical of Sony party-class designs with decent coherence through crossover regions.

Treble

82/100

Multiple tweeters (including rear tweeters) indicate emphasis on high-frequency dispersion and added 'air' for large-room coverage. Without reviewer reports on brightness or harshness, score is modestly positive but restrained to allow for potential party-sound tuning.

Soundstage Imaging

80/100

Rear tweeters and multi-driver layout imply a wide, room-filling soundstage suitable for parties, though imaging precision for critical listening is likely secondary. No placement/room-sensitivity reports available; score reflects likely broad but not ultra-focused imaging.

Dynamics

84/100

Designed as a powered party tower with substantial driver array and mains power, so macro dynamics and transient slam should be strong for lively playback. Absence of reviewer comments on headroom forces a conservative but positive mark.

Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.

Build Quality

82/100

Sony typically uses solid enclosures and robust finishes for this product class; supplied accessories (optical cable, AC cord) and clear driver layout point to competent engineering. No reviewer teardown or crossover details available, so score is optimistic but cautious.

Features Connectivity

86/100

Unit is powered and includes Sound Connect app compatibility, optical input and mains power; network standby spec provided. For an active party tower this is a strong and practical feature set (wireless/app control likely present), so the score reflects useful connectivity rather than passive baseline.

Value for Money

78/100

At $749.99 the speaker sits in the mid-premium party-tower segment. With no reviewer performance comparisons or explicit praise, value is judged as reasonable for a well-featured Sony tower but not exceptional without measurements or comparative reviews.
