Sonus Faber Lumina V
Slender Speakers with Surprising Performance.
Lumina V takes inspiration from Sonus faber’s core designs and technologies, packaged in a sleek and minimalistic floorstanding speaker.
LUXURY, SIMPLIFIED.
Lumina V is the flagship three-way floor standing model in the collection. A slender speaker with high-power handling and fast transient response, Lumina V produces a natural, generous, and emotional sound for an immersive listening experience.
LIGHTING THE WAY
The Lumina collection ushers in exciting changes while preserving the history and values core to Sonus faber. Centered on simplicity, Lumina provides an immersive and musical experience to a broader audience.
SIGNATURE SONUS FABER MATERIALS
Lumina V incorporates multilayer wood on the front baffle and wood veneer, available in multiple finishes. The sides and top of the speaker cabinet are hand-covered in black leather.
SIMPLICITY AND STYLE
Lumina takes note of Sonus faber’s iconic natural materials.
SIMPLICITY, STYLE, AND PERFORMANCE
Lumina takes note from core Sonus faber technologies, design, and manufacturing principles – transforming them into a beautifully minimalistic masterpiece, made in Italy.
CROSSOVER HYBRID IFF–PARACROSS TOPOLOGY
The mid-high crossover network “Hybrid IFF – Paracross Topology” combines Interactive Fusion Filtering with Paracross Topology, where reactive components such as capacitors and inductors/coils are placed on the negative rail of the circuitry. The resulting benefits include a reduction in the drivers’ back EMF (Electro Motive Force), allowing them to operate in a maximally interconnected and organic way, and a lowering of crossover sensitivity to radio frequencies, further improving sound definition.
REFLEX PORT
The reflex port, placed at the base in a down-firing position, provides versatility in speaker placement. This sound solution makes Lumina V speakers significantly less sensitive to their placement, delivering superb sound even when placed close to a back wall.
LUTE SHAPED MID-HI INTERNAL CHAMBER
The distinctive design solution of the Lumina V is the internal mid-high volume with the Sonus faber signature’s design shape: the lute. This feature maximizes structural rigidity and the acoustic performance of the midrange while simultaneously reducing standing waves within the acoustic load volume.
WOOFER
The diaphragm of the two 6.5’’ woofers developed for Lumina V encompasses the sandwich construction technique: two external layers of cellulose pulp and other natural fibers are combined with a layer of high-tech syntactic foam in between, guaranteeing a natural reproduction of low frequencies.
TERMINALS
Lumina V has two pairs of nickel-plated terminals, allowing for an upgraded experience through bi-wiring and bi-amping.

The Lumina V impresses first with a rich, holographic midrange and punchy low end that belies its class. Reviewers note its natural midrange, tight, deep bass, smooth treble and an expansive, well-layered soundstage, combining Italian craftsmanship with refined crossover engineering — praised by Tyler Stripko and Dennis Burger.
Pros
- Expressive, low‑distortion midrange that delivers clear, palpable vocals and instrument body.
- Deep, tuneful and well‑controlled bass with surprising extension and slam for a dual‑6.5" tower.
- Refined treble and wide, precise imaging produce a holographic soundstage and generous sweet spot.
- High‑quality Italian build and trickle‑down crossover tech make the Lumina V an exceptional value for its performance.
&
Cons
- Needs a solid, higher‑power amplifier and careful partnering due to 4Ω nominal impedance.
- Down‑firing port and included spikes require careful placement (and lift on carpet) to avoid blocking bass output.
- Some reviewers noted inexpensive-looking plastic binding‑post plates that contrast with otherwise high build quality.

Bass
94/100
Dual 6.5" woofers deliver deep, tight, and tuneful bass; multiple reviewers noted output below 30Hz in-room and felt chest-impact. Reviewers said a sub is unnecessary except for the deepest bottom octave or home-theater LFE, and praised tight control and authority while noting it won't 'compress a room' like larger towers.
Mid
95/100
Dedicated 150mm mid driver and Sonus faber voicing produce natural, holographic, and very engaging midrange with excellent vocal presence. Multiple reviews call the midrange a highlight—low distortion, organic timbre, and faithful instrument body.
Treble
92/100
D.A.D. tweeter yields smooth, detailed highs with good extension and air; reviewers praised cymbal and transient detail while one noted some roll-off above 10kHz attributable to room/listening position. No reports of harshness; top end described as refined.
Soundstage Imaging
93/100
Consistently praised for wide, deep, and well-layered soundstage with strong image specificity and a generous sweet spot. Reviewers reported holographic staging and even dispersion, with good vertical and horizontal behavior.
Dynamics
92/100
Speakers handle both micro- and macro-dynamics with composure and slam; reviewers noted authoritative brass and percussion and good headroom up to loud levels. A few remarked they lack the raw 'oomph' of larger, heavier towers, but overall dynamic performance is excellent for the driver complement.

Build Quality
92/100
High-quality, Italian-made cabinetry with leather finish and refined fit-and-finish widely praised. Minor gripe: inexpensive-looking plastic binding-post plate noted by some reviewers, but overall cabinet engineering and driver selection are excellent.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive floorstander baseline applied. Speakers include bi-wire/bi-amp capable binding posts and down-firing port (requires placement care on carpet); no DSP/streaming expected or penalized.
Value for Money
92/100
Multiple reviewers called the Lumina V a strong value (reviews referenced ~$2,699–$2,999 USD) given handcrafted finishes, tech trickle-down from higher models, and high-end sound. If priced higher (product list shows different ranges), perceived value would reduce, but reviewer consensus praises price-to-performance here.
