Gravis adds beauty and depth to Sonus faber’s Natural Sound signature
EXPERTISE AND ARTISANSHIP
Gravis melds decades of Sonus faber design and audio expertise into a contemporary package, enhancing the depth and clarity of our Natural Sound signature in a seamlessly integrated design.
THE REAR PANEL
The Gravis III subwoofer offers versatile connectivity, accommodating both high-level and low-level signals. The high-level input employs a Speakon© 4-pin connector, while the line-level signals can be transmitted via balanced or unbalanced cables.
SPEAKER UNIT
Gravis III boasts a 10” (250mm) ultra-long throw driver equipped with a trilaminated sandwich cone diaphragm. This diaphragm comprises two layers of woven synthetic fibers (Fiberglass) with a layer of nomex honeycomb structure in between, effectively managing the driver's excursion and resistance flexing.
WIRELESS PAIRING
Gravis III can be wirelessly paired by using the Gravis Transmitter. The Gravis Transmitter transmits signals in wireless mode to the Gravis III active subwoofer, with maximum versatility in a compact form that is easy to integrate into any listening environment.
DEDICATED APP
The Gravis III is fully controllable through dedicated, user-friendly app. Available for iOS and Android systems, this app makes the subwoofers simple to configure and use.

Sonus Faber's Gravis III delivers exceptionally musical, tight, fast bass that blends with main speakers so well it sounds like a single full-range speaker, extending usefully to around 25Hz. Reviewers at HomeTheaterHifi and SoundStage Solo praised its build, app-based DSP and parametric EQ; headroom and ultra-low output are limited versus larger subs.
Pros
- Seamless integration with main speakers, producing a cohesive, full-range soundstage.
- Very tight, fast bass with excellent pitch definition for music and effects.
- High-end build and finishes (leather-clad cabinet, hand-applied top veneers) that match Sonus Faber speakers.
- Flexible app-based DSP with Auto-EQ and up to eight parametric EQ filters for precise room tuning.
&
Cons
- Limited extreme low-frequency headroom compared with larger or multi-driver subs; may compress at very high SPL in big rooms.
- App and firmware quirks reported (initial LED blinking, sensitivity of farfield measurements and some UX issues).

Bass
90/100
Multiple measurements and listening notes show strong low-frequency reach for a 10" sealed design (down to ~25Hz, "solid output down to 25Hz" and "solid until right around 22Hz"). Reviewers note excellent pitch definition and chest-impact for deep hits, though one reviewer mentioned audible compression when driven to its limits—good extension and control for size, limited extreme output/headroom.
Dynamics
90/100
Multiple reviewers praised fast, tight transients and impactful dynamics ("very fast, tight bass," "dynamic impacts... I could physically feel each one"). However, dynamics are constrained by a single 10" sealed driver—one reviewer noted it "didn't take my breath away as my reference dual sub setup does" and some compression when pushed.

Integration
96/100
Reviewers repeatedly reported seamless blending: "no sense of a subwoofer running," "the integration... was just that good," and it "sounded like a single full-range speaker." These outcome statements show excellent real-world blend with main speakers across music and movies.
Build Quality
93/100
Construction is high-end: "gorgeous black leather," 1.25" HDF cabinet walls, extensive internal bracing, long-throw honeycomb/Nomex sandwich cone, metal grille posts and a substantial Class-AB amp/heatsink. Reviewers called it "excellent build quality" and praised finishes and fit-and-finish.
Features Connectivity
92/100
Comprehensive connectivity and app-based DSP: RCA/XLR/Neutrik high-level, Ethernet, USB, Bluetooth app control with 8-band parametric EQ, presets and Auto-EQ. Minor usability notes: most controls require the Gravis app, the optional wireless transmitter is extra cost, and an initial blinking LED required a firmware fix.
Value for Money
85/100
Price is premium (~$2,750–$2,995). Reviewers flagged it as "steep" but generally concluded it's "worth every penny to the right buyer," especially for those prioritizing musical integration, build quality, and sonics rather than brute output—strong value for targeted buyers, less so for those needing massive low-frequency SPL.
