Scansonic MB2.5 B
The MB2.5 B is a slim floorstander with two 5,25” carbon-coned drivers and a sealed ribbon tweeter. The MB2.5 B is a 2.5-way speaker with the second woofer assisting in the power demanding bass region. The 2.5’s cabinet is heavy, braced and curved, with carbon reinforcements.
The MB2.5 B has a solid foundation in the Nordic design tradition.
It is simple, sleek, elegant and visually square when seen directly from the front, and curved and organic when seen from an angle.
The rounded edges of the cabinet reduces diffraction and minimizes the sonic imprint on the frequency response. It does not matter if your home is modern or classic, the timeless design of the MB2.5 B will fit in any home.
Fabric grillfronts can be supplied as an additional accessory.

Cons
- Lowest octave lacks the slam of larger floorstanders and can sound slightly bloomy or slow on very LF-heavy material.
- Driving the speakers loudly (>90 dB) can produce a subtle midrange forwardness and tonal shift, indicating limited extreme headroom.
- Internal bracing/damping can reveal localized resonance under very aggressive playback, suggesting the cabinet tolerates extreme stress less well.

Bass
92/100
Reviewers repeatedly note surprisingly deep extension for the size (spec'd to 36Hz) and that the speaker can replace a sub in casual listening; however the bottom octave lacks the slam of larger floorstanders and can occasionally sound slightly bloomy/slow. Overall authoritative and well controlled for a dual 5.25" small tower.
Mid

Midrange described as truthful and uncoloured—presented 'straight up' without beautification. A slight forward shift under loud playback was reported, but timbre and vocal presence remain convincing and coherent through the crossover.
