Rotel S14 — a powerful, modern streaming integrated with classic engineering
The Rotel S14 pairs a muscular class-AB power stage (80W/ch into 8Ω, 150W/ch into 4Ω) and a hefty toroidal transformer with an unusually broad set of streaming options. Reviewer Dennis Burger (SoundStage Solo) highlighted its refined treble sparkle, tactile midrange textures and a roomy, inviting soundstage. Dynamics are strong — controlled decay and the ability to drive speakers with tricky impedance dips give the S14 confident punch and authority.
Built in a solid, weighty chassis with an all-metal remote, the unit emphasizes practical connectivity: AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Roon Ready, Tidal/Spotify Connect, Bluetooth and USB-A/USB-B (24/384, MQA). Ideal for listeners who want audiophile-grade sound with straightforward smartphone or Roon streaming. The S14’s combination of power, clarity and modern inputs makes it a compelling one-box solution.
Pros
- Robust, musical power and current delivery capable of driving difficult speakers (80W/8Ω; 150W/4Ω) thanks to a substantial toroidal transformer and class‑AB topology.
- Extensive modern streaming and digital connectivity — AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Roon Ready, Tidal/Spotify Connect, Bluetooth and high‑res USB (up to 24/384, MQA) — making setup and everyday use effortless.
- Detailed, engaging presentation with sparkling treble, textured midrange and an immersive soundstage that rewards close listening.
&
Cons
- No onboard bass-management or advanced subwoofer crossover controls — requires a sub with its own low-pass filter for 2.1 setups.
- Rotel’s own smartphone app is rudimentary and the unit lacks a built-in multiroom ecosystem (no HEOS/BluOS), which may disappoint users wanting integrated multiroom management.
- Stream input autosensing excludes Bluetooth and PC‑USB, so switching to those sources requires manual input selection.

Dynamics
90/100
Class-AB design with a substantial toroidal transformer and 80W/Ch (8Ω) with 150W/Ch into 4Ω delivers notable oomph and controlled decay; reviewer specifically noted strong decay handling and ability to drive speakers with impedance dips. High damping factor (400) and comments about current capability support excellent dynamic control for its power class.
Soundstage Imaging
89/100
Reviewer described a very inviting, immersive soundstage that was "one I wanted to crawl into," indicating strong width/depth and engaging imaging. Slight reduction in air around some instruments tempers a perfect-score assessment.

Build Quality
88/100
Solid all-metal construction, substantial weight (~20 lb) and visible power-supply/heatsink engineering (toroidal transformer) point to quality build. Remote is all-metal and well made; no extreme luxury-material notes but clearly robust and well-engineered for the price.
Features Connectivity
94/100
Extensive streaming and digital feature set: AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Roon Ready, Qobuz, Spotify/Tidal Connect, Rotel app, Bluetooth, USB-Audio Class 2.0 (up to 24/384, MQA), optical/coax S/PDIF to 24/192; includes built-in DAC and remote. This breadth of modern streaming, high-resolution USB/MQA support and digital inputs places it near the top of connectivity for integrated amps.
Value for Money
89/100
At the stated price (~$1,999) reviewers noted the power supply is above expectations for the segment and that the amp can drive a wide range of speakers, making it a justified premium purchase. Comments frame it as an easy-to-use, well-rounded streaming integrated that "makes a lot of the right noises," supporting a strong value judgment without hyperbole.
