The Revel Ultima Studio2 is a floorstanding design featuring all of Revel’s latest technological innovations and enhancements. The Studio2 adopts a similar approach to the Salon2 but in a more discreet physical package. A three-way system utilizing two 8-inch woofers, a 5¼-inch midrange and a 1-inch tweeter, the Studio2 carries the graceful look of the new Ultima series. A somewhat smaller size makes it ideal where space is limited or for applications that don't require the massive output and bottom-octave footprint of the Salon2, but uncompromised performance is required.

Studio2 Highlights

  • Rounded baffles and enclosures virtually eliminate diffraction
  • Woofer and midrange trandsducers feature inverted-dome designs for superior piston like behavior
  • Tweeters use acoustically optimized waveguides for seamless transitions between the tweeter and midrange
  • Pure-beryllium dome tweeters exhibit the optimal balance of high-power handling, low distortion and compression
  • Separate filter boards for each frequency range

Deliciously Crispy

Revel Studio2 delivers room-filling bass and pinpoint imaging thanks to dual 8" titanium woofers and a rigid cabinet, pairing a 1" beryllium tweeter for airy highs and spectacular detail. Its three-way crossover yields coherent mids and impressive dynamic authority, and nuanced timbral accuracy underlines a refined, high-end character.

Pros

  • Authoritative, deep bass with measured extension down toward 21–32 Hz driven by dual 8" woofers and a heavy 112 lb cabinet.
  • Extended, low-distortion treble and high-resolution detail from the 1" beryllium tweeter with spec'd extension to ~45 kHz.
  • Premium build, robust cabinet and carefully implemented three-way crossover yield focused imaging, coherent mids and strong dynamic authority.

Cons

  • Modest sensitivity (87.7 dB) and a 6 Ω nominal / 3.7 Ω minimum impedance mean it benefits from a powerful, low-impedance-capable amplifier.
  • Large footprint and substantial 112 lb cabinet per speaker require generous room space and sturdy flooring.

Sound Quality

Bass

95/100

Two 8" titanium woofers, heavy 112 lb cabinet and measured low-frequency extension (-3 dB at 32 Hz, -10 dB at 21 Hz) indicate authoritative, deep bass with strong control and extension for a large tower. Expect room-filling sub-bass and tight slam; sensitivity is modest so adequate amplification is recommended.

Mid

92/100

13.3 cm (5.25") titanium mid with a 2 kHz crossover and three-way acoustic design points to clear, present midrange and coherence through the crossover region. Titanium can trend slightly forward, but Revel's tuning and driver quality suggest very accurate timbre and excellent vocal presence.

Treble

93/100

1" beryllium tweeter and spec'd extension to 45 kHz support outstanding detail, resolution and air. Expect extended, refined highs with low distortion; without listening notes there's no strong evidence of harshness.

Soundstage Imaging

92/100

Three-way layout, dedicated mid and beryllium tweeter plus a large rigid cabinet imply wide, deep staging with focused images and good layering. Heavy cabinet and careful crossover design support stable imaging and precise localization.

Dynamics

92/100

Large radiating area (dual 8" woofers) and substantial cabinet mass indicate strong macro- and micro-dynamic capability and headroom. Low nominal sensitivity (87.7 dB) means dynamics will depend on amplifier power, but drivers/cabinet point to high dynamic authority when properly driven.

Build Quality

94/100

112 lb chassis, premium finishes (piano black/mahogany) and Revel's engineering pedigree suggest top-tier cabinet construction, bracing and crossover component quality. The dimensions and weight reinforce a solid, resonant-controlled design.

Features Connectivity

80/100

Passive tower: passive baseline applied. Standard binding-post connectivity expected; no DSP/app/streaming considered or penalized.

Value for Money

80/100

Price not provided. Given premium materials, heavy construction and high-spec drivers, value is likely aligned with high-end pricing. Without price or peer-review commentary, a conservative mid-high value score is used.
