Revel F228Be
At the heart of the Revel Performa F228Be's immaculate sound lies a 1-inch beryllium tweeter driven by massive 85mm dual ceramic magnets. The powerful tweeter is mated to a 5th-generation ceramic-coated, cast-aluminum Acoustic Lens waveguide engineered to seamlessly integrate with the directivity of the companion midrange driver. The 5.25-inch midrange driver has been updated with a larger Deep Ceramic Composite (DCC) diaphragm, bigger voice coil and ceramic motor structure. The result is greater efficiency, less compression, improved dynamic range, reduced distortion, and increased power handling. PerformaBe crossover networks utilize all film capacitors and air core inductors in the midrange and tweeter circuits. These premium components allow Revel's world-class engineers to extract nuances and details from music that would otherwise be lost. Combined with traditional Revel high-order crossover slopes and proprietary Acoustic Lens waveguide geometry, transducer integration is seamless.
THE BEAUTY OF BERYLLIUM Beryllium - Element 4 on the Periodic Table - is a rare earth metal that is renowned for its remarkable physical properties that make it the ideal material for a high-frequency transducer. Compared to aluminum and titanium tweeter diaphragms, Beryllium offers 4.5 times the stiffness and three times more damping, and does so at only half of the weight. ELEGANT DESIGN F228Be top panels are painted in stylish metallic black with raised electroform badging. The speakers are available in a choice of four high-gloss finishes for seamless integration into any décor: Black, White, Walnut, and Metallic Silver

Natural, uncolored presentation leads the Revel F228Be, pairing a beryllium tweeter and DCC drivers for exceptional clarity and airy extension. Reviewers at HomeTheaterHifi and Audioholics praise its tight, authoritative deep bass, layered soundstage and effortless dynamics, making these towers extremely listenable even off-axis.
Pros
- Natural, uncolored midrange with highly resolving vocal accuracy and truthful timbre.
- Tight, deep, well-controlled bass that in many rooms reduces the need for a subwoofer.
- Wide, layered, holographic soundstage with excellent off-axis dispersion so listeners away from the sweet spot still hear detail.
- Premium build and finish: heavily braced curved cabinet, cast driver frames and high-quality binding posts for low resonance and longevity.

Cons
- High price — a significant investment compared with mainstream options, even if many reviewers deem it justified by performance.
- Large footprint and substantial weight can complicate placement; low-frequency energy may excite room modes and benefit from room correction.

Bass
95/100
Dual 8" DCC woofers and a 27Hz (-6dB) response give deep, well-controlled low end. Multiple reviewers note tight, growling bass with little boom and, in some rooms, 'no need for a sub,' while others concede a sub will reach the deepest infrasonic notes. Overall authoritative, tuneful low end with excellent control.
Mid
95/100
Reviewers repeatedly describe the midrange as natural, uncolored and highly resolving—'vocal reproduction is equally flawless' and 'about as best as I have heard.' Mid/tweeter integration and clarity are consistently praised, yielding truthful timbre and instrument realism.
Treble
94/100
25mm beryllium dome with waveguide extends smoothly to high frequencies (40kHz claimed). Reports cite ample air, detail and focus without harshness or fatigue, delivering bite and extension (violin timbre) while remaining well controlled off-axis.
Soundstage Imaging
94/100
Consistently described as tall, holographic and deeply layered; reviewers praised depth, instrument separation and off‑axis strength. Not the absolute widest soundstage but exceptional layering, focus and three-dimensionality with very good staging even off the sweet spot.
Dynamics
95/100
Multiple reviews highlight effortless micro- and macro-dynamics, slam and the ability to play loud without compression or harshness. The DCC cones and robust motor structure are credited for power handling and dynamic control.

Build Quality
94/100
Heavily braced 25mm panels, cast frames, premium finishes and excellent fit/finish noted across reviews. Cabinets feel inert and rigid, finishes exceed typical expectations, and binding posts/crossover parts are high quality.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive tower baseline applied. Gold-plated dual binding posts for bi-wire/bi-amp supported; front-venting reflex port with included foam bungs. No DSP/app required for this passive design.
Value for Money
88/100
Price (approx. $10k/pair per several reviews; product data shows $5,500 each) is high but multiple reviewers call the F228Be strong value for the performance, noting rivals cost more for modest gains.
