Revel Performa3 floorstanding loudspeakers are true full-range loudspeakers that feature small footprints and sleek designs, allowing them to blend-in easily with your existing décor. They deliver an impressive combination of wide frequency range, uncompressed dynamic range and low distortion across the entire audible spectrum.

Revel F206's low-frequency and midrange transducers feature distortion reduction mechanisms that stabilize the flux field during operation, assuring low distortion even at high listening volumes. These precision transducers utilize ribbed aluminum cones for ideal piston-like behavior that eliminates a major source of resonances that are clearly audible in most other loudspeakers. Their cast aluminum frames eliminate another source of resonances that is common in many lesser-quality loudspeakers.

These loudspeakers employ a sophisticated fluid-model designed low-frequency port with identical flares on both ends. This greatly minimizes dynamic compression and port-generated noise, assuring low-distortion low-frequency performance. The front-firing port location expands the speakers’ installation options.

The F208 and F206 tweeter has been created around a newly-designed motor and dome assembly that sets a new standard of transparency for speakers anywhere near the Performa3’s class. The tweeter’s integrated acoustic lens waveguide is based on a breakthrough mathematical approach that accurately matches the tweeter’s dispersion to that of the midrange transducer in the crossover region. This gives the loudspeaker very smooth sound far off-axis – an important contributor to overall sound quality, providing consistent sound over an exceptionally wide listening area. In fact, this new waveguide actually increases the tweeter’s dispersion at higher frequencies.

The F206 is housed in enclosures that are similar to our flagship Ultima2 Series. These fully-curved enclosures are inherently stiffer than conventional box shapes and are formed with contiguous wood layers that prevent splitting. They feature strategically-oriented bracing that eliminates the possibility of enclosure-induced coloration. These beautiful, modern enclosures are finished in high-gloss piano black or genuine American walnut in a process (developed and overseen by Italian luxury cabinet makers) that exceeds automotive finish quality.

The loudspeaker grilles are designed to minimize sonic diffraction or veiling and provide a clean, subtle appearance. The magnetic grille attachment method completely eliminates ugly hardware on the loudspeaker baffle, so if you decide to use the loudspeakers without grilles they will look like they were designed to be used without grilles. Overall Score 90/100

Rating for [object Object]

Deliciously Crispy

Exceptional neutrality and startling midrange clarity define the Revel F206, delivering intimate, realistic vocals and coherent imaging praised by Doug Schneider and SoundStage! Hi‑Fi Editors. Its extended highs remain refined, while precise driver integration creates expansive soundstaging. A compact, well-built floorstander with reference-grade transparency that belies its price.

SoundStage Solo

"the F206 provides top-class, reference-grade sound for a real-world price"

Pros

  • Reference-grade neutrality and exceptionally clear midrange that renders vocals with natural, lifelike detail.
  • Expansive, precise soundstaging and imaging thanks to coherent driver integration and well-engineered crossover design.
  • Extended, refined treble response—detailed highs without the harshness or 'bite' some metal-dome designs exhibit.
  • High-quality construction and finish with solid cabinetry and flawless high-gloss options.

&

Cons

  • Limited low-frequency extension—usable bass reaches just below ~40Hz, so it gives up the bottom octave.
  • Modest maximum output and headroom compared with larger towers—less ideal for very large rooms or ultra‑loud listening.

Sound Quality

91/100

Bass

90/100

Inferred mid‑tower with dual 6.5" aluminum woofers and a front‑firing port. Spec'd LF extension (-10dB@33Hz, -6dB@40Hz, -3dB@52Hz) indicates solid low‑end reach and authority for a dual‑6.5" design; sensitivity (88dB) and porting temper ultimate slam. Score sits within the 'mid tower' band (typical ceiling) reflecting good extension and control without subwoofer‑level punch.

Mid

92/100

Dedicated 5.25" aluminum cone midrange with a 275Hz crossover point and cast frames supports clean, detailed midrange and coherent cabinet integration. Expected natural timbre and strong vocal presence given Revel's driver and crossover choices; minimal coloration anticipated.

Treble

90/100

1" aluminum tweeter with an Acoustic Lens Waveguide implies extended, detailed top end with controlled dispersion. Aluminum dome can be energetic, but the waveguide and quality crossover design should keep treble refined and non‑fatiguing.

Soundstage Imaging

92/100

Waveguide tweeter, dedicated mid driver and a well‑engineered crossover (275Hz/2150Hz) favor precise imaging and stable, layered soundstaging. Cabinet dimensions and driver layout support good width/depth and focused images for near‑to‑midfield listening.

Dynamics

88/100

Recommended amp power (50–200W) and robust cast‑frame drivers indicate strong micro/macro dynamics with adequate headroom when driven properly. 88dB sensitivity and relatively modest cone area vs larger towers slightly limit effortless slam, but transient response should be punchy and controlled.

Build Quality

94/100

58 lb cabinet, cast‑frame aluminum drivers and high‑gloss finish options (Piano Black/White, Walnut) point to premium materials and solid engineering. Revel's construction and internal bracing expectations justify a high build score.

Features Connectivity

80/100

Passive floorstanding design; binding posts provided. Passive baseline applied (fixed band for passive towers); no deductions for lack of DSP/streaming.

Value for Money

85/100

At ~$2,650 (presumed per pair), the F206 sits in the premium consumer tier. Strong measured extension, driver quality and build justify the price relative to peers, but it's not a budget value nor a bargain compared with higher‑end reference models.
