5.25" Turbine Cone
Polk developed the Turbine cone specifically for the Legend series to ensure the natural reproduction of the mid-range, the frequencies our ears are so sensitive to. The Turbine cone combines Polk’s proprietary foam core and the molded Turbine geometry which dramatically increases stiffness and damping, without adding mass, resulting in a smooth, detailed mid-range and effortless bass – hear every detail.
Better Bass by Design
For Legend Series we enhanced our patented Power Port® technology by fine-tuning the geometry of the port flare to smoothly transition air flow from the speaker into your listening area. The result? Louder, cleaner bass and more defined midrange by minimizing the turbulence, distortion, and port noise typically found in traditional ported speaker designs. Hear the difference in the Legend L100.
Pinnacle Ring Radiator Tweeter
40 plus years of tweeter innovation, design and prototyping has led to the development of the new 1” high definition Pinnacle ring radiator tweeter. Developed for the Legend Series, it delivers ultra-clear, crisp highs without unwanted coloration or distortions.

Bass
88/100
Reviewers repeatedly note surprisingly deep, thumping bass for a stand-mount—one reviewer said they had to turn down their sub and another called drum bass outstanding. A small-room comment that the speakers are 'almost too bold' supports strong low-frequency output and extension for the size, though one comment flagged bass as soft on certain program material.
Mid
84/100
Midrange is generally clear and present—'treble and midrange sound great'—but at least one reviewer found vocals (e.g., Fleetwood Mac) sounded 'downright wrong,' indicating some timbral coloration or sensitivity to certain recordings/voices.
Treble
84/100
Treble is detailed and forward, delivering air and clarity on jangly guitars and drums, though that forwardness can be a 'mixed blessing' and alter the character of some familiar albums; overall refined but on the bright side for some listeners.
Soundstage Imaging
90/100
Multiple reviewers praise excellent imaging and holographic staging—comments include 'make music erupt in your listening space' and 'wonderful imaging'—giving the L100s strong width, depth and focused images for a bookshelf design.
Dynamics
90/100
Dynamics and punch are standout traits: reviewers call them 'very powerful for the size' and note that with the right amplifier they 'open up' and deliver impactful drum and transient dynamics.

Build Quality
92/100
Build is repeatedly praised—'built like tanks' with non off-the-shelf drivers and a cabinet that separates them from cheaper siblings—implying solid construction, good internal engineering and premium parts.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive bookshelf baseline applied: single-post passive, no DSP/streaming expected. No evidence of bi-wire terminals or special connectivity options in the reviews.
Value for Money
92/100
At $999/pair reviewers call the L100 'one of the best stand-mount speakers available under $1,200' and recommend spending up to this level—strong language indicating very high value vs peers at this price.
