This active two-way reference monitor offers all the attributes for which PMC is world-renowned: high resolution and detail, accurate, extended bass, consistent tonal balance & wide dispersion.

The result6 provides an introduction to PMC and the huge benefits of ATL™ technology, the proprietary bass-loading system at the heart of all our designs. This active two-way reference monitor offers all the attributes for which PMC is world-renowned: high resolution and detail, accurate, extended bass, consistent tonal balance at all levels, and wide dispersion and sweet spot. With an emphasis on elegant simplicity, this is a compact nearfield that allows you to work faster and more confidently.

There are no overly complex DSP-based user options or room profiles; instead, the result6 achieves its characteristically neutral, dependable PMC reference sound solely on the strength of its engineering. Honed to the fundamentals of our design philosophy, it’s devoted to getting you the best sounding results in the shortest possible time.

The distinctive, finned HF driver surround on the result6 are known as D-Fins and they deliver major sonic benefits by widening the stereo sweet spot . The result is an excellent off axis response over a wider area. The D-Fins also eradicate the cabinet edge effects, ensuring high-frequency sound remains razor-sharp and unsmeared.

You can change your listening position as you work without adversely affecting what you hear, and that the frequency response remains flat and natural-sounding.

With twin low-distortion, (HF 65W, LF 100W) amps, ATL™ bass loading and a plethora major innovations the result6 lets you achieve exactly what you need, quicker. Facebook Pixel Code

Deliciously Crispy

The PMC result6 shines with an expansive, precisely layered soundstage and incisive, revealing midrange, delivering fast yet controlled dynamics and surprisingly weighty bass for its size. Reviewers from SoundStage Solo and What Hi‑Fi? praise its transparency and imaging, making these studio monitors as compelling in the living room as in the control room.

SoundStage Solo — Gordon Brockhouse

"I found the PMC result6 a really fun, exciting speaker to listen to, and very expressive."

Pros

  • Expansive, stable stereo imaging and soundstage that places instruments with convincing specificity.
  • Highly revealing, incisive midrange and overall transparency that uncovers production detail without sounding etched.
  • Fast, controlled dynamics with impressive low‑end grip for a 6.5" nearfield monitor, delivering punch and articulation.

&

Cons

  • Connectivity is limited to a single balanced XLR input, which may require adapters or a preamp for many home setups.
  • Utilitarian, studio‑oriented styling and plain finishes that won’t suit every living‑room aesthetic.

Sound Quality

91/100

Bass

90/100

For its size (6.5" driver with transmission-line tuning) the result6 delivers exceptional low-end extension and control. Reviews repeatedly note tuneful, articulate double-bass and well-controlled floor toms, and What Hi‑Fi specifically praises the transmission line's low-end extension and grip. The 45Hz spec and reviewers' comments support an excellent bass performance relative to this driver/enclosure class.

Mid

92/100

Midrange is incisive, revealing and highly refined—reviewers call the result6 very revealing and capable of exposing production differences. SoundStage notes superior midrange clarity and subtle dynamics, while What Hi‑Fi highlights transparency and the speakers' ability to unravel recordings with ease.

Treble

91/100

Treble is detailed, refined and well-controlled; reviewers praise the 27mm soft-dome and PMC's D‑Fin treatment for smoothing edge diffraction and widening dispersion. SoundStage lauds exquisite upper strings and ideal cymbal sheen, and What Hi‑Fi credits the D‑Fins for consistent HF dispersion and a wider sweet spot.

Soundstage Imaging

92/100

Imaging and soundstage are standout attributes: both reviews describe a large, expansive stage with very good image specificity and stable off-axis performance. SoundStage described convincing placement of instruments across the stage, and What Hi‑Fi observed a large-scale, crisply focused image that remains consistent off-axis.

Dynamics

91/100

Dynamics are fast and impactful without sounding harsh; SoundStage calls them almost explosive but never overbearing, and What Hi‑Fi notes the speakers handle high volume with composure and track savage dynamic shifts. The result6 conveys both micro- and macro-dynamic contrasts well for a bookshelf monitor.

Build Quality

86/100

Build is utilitarian and robust with purposeful acoustic treatments (rubber bands/D‑fins) that aid resonance control, but finishes are plain rather than luxurious. Reviewers praise the cabinet damping and studio-focused construction, while noting the aesthetic is more pro/studio than high‑end domestic.

Features Connectivity

83/100

Active monitor with IEC mains, a single balanced XLR input, and onboard trim control—suitable for studio use but limited for users wanting multiple inputs or consumer unbalanced connectors. Reviews question the single XLR input for some consumers but accept it as consistent with the monitor's professional intent.

Value for Money

90/100

Both reviews call out strong value: What Hi‑Fi calls them 'excellent value' and SoundStage positions the pair at $2,950 as PMC's entry-level active monitor. Given the performance (detail, staging, bass control) relative to the stated price and competing passive alternatives, reviewers consider them a compelling buy.
