Pros
Exceptionally neutral, transparent presentation with clean, natural vocals and finely resolved low-level detail.
Broad, sharply focused and convincingly holographic imaging that rivals considerably pricier loudspeakers.
Fast, articulate and linear bass, with superb woofer control and extension below 30Hz.
High-standard construction and an attractive high-gloss finish support its premium positioning.
Cons
In a large room, the deepest bass can lack the weight and slam demanded by bass-heavy music at high volume.
Optimal placement may require extensive experimentation, and lab testing notes reduced bass extension and increased midrange/treble distortion versus the larger S7t.

What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 92/100
The S5t is described as exceptionally neutral and transparent, with particularly accomplished imaging and a tightly controlled low end. Its presentation prioritises linearity, precision and coherence over added warmth or exaggerated bass impact; very large rooms and listeners seeking maximum low-frequency slam may want more.
Bass
91/100
SoundStage Solo found the bass fast, articulate, tonally linear and free from an artificial midbass lift, with extension below 30Hz. Control from the twin woofers was called superb, although the reviewer felt that the heaviest bass-driven material lacked some desired weight and slam at high volume in a large room.
Mid
93/100
Vocals were described as clean, supple and utterly natural, supporting the reviewer's broader praise for the speaker's neutrality and transparency. Hi-Fi News notes higher midrange distortion than the larger S7t, but does not report an audible coloration or crossover problem.
Treble
92/100
The S5t combined strong edge definition with an absence of unwanted beryllium-tweeter brightness, according to SoundStage Solo. Hi-Fi News measured increased treble distortion relative to the S7t, though the listening review still characterises the overall presentation as clean and naturally balanced.
Soundstage Imaging
96/100
Imaging is a standout strength. SoundStage Solo heard an unusually broad stage, sharply focused and cohesive placement of performers, and one of the most convincing, holographic stereo images the reviewer had encountered, including from considerably more expensive speakers.
Dynamics
89/100
The S5t can fill a room with bass when its volume is raised and avoids relying on a midbass hump to create a false sense of punch. That said, the reviewer found that demanding bass-heavy music did not deliver all the weight and slam expected at loud levels in a large listening room.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
91/100
SoundStage Solo found the S5t built to a high standard and praised the beauty of its high-gloss finish. The substantial, carefully specified cabinet and driver array support that premium impression, though the supplied reviews offer little comment on long-term durability.
Value for Money
93/100
At roughly $9,000 to $15,800 depending on market and finish, the S5t is a serious premium purchase. SoundStage Solo nevertheless considered Perlisten's technological innovation highly impressive below $15,000, adding that many costlier loudspeakers deliver substantially less.

It's all in the details
Borrowing its technology from our flagship S7t. The more modestly sized S5t mirrors many of the S7t attributes. Featuring our proprietary DPC-Array controlling Mid/High frequencies, centered by our finest 28mm Beryllium dome and dual 28mm TPCD ultra-lightweight domes. All transducers are developed ground up by our engineers – bringing decades of research, culminating in this world class design. We teamed up with companies in the USA and Sweden to bring modern material science to hi-fi. Utilizing advanced Comsol acoustical modeling, our DPC-array is the result of 18 months of painstaking simulations and prototyping. The result is one of the most technologically advanced loudspeakers available.
This new tweeter/waveguide DPC-Array delivers amazing accuracy, smoothness, and directivity control to handle the critical vocal range and delicate treble. All S-Series speakers share the same DPC-Array and benefit from our unique timbre matching technique across the entire series. Custom bass drivers made from thin-ply carbon diaphragms (TPCD) can be configured as bass reflex or acoustic suspension and adjusted for listener preference. True full range performance with unparalleled dynamic range and musical finesse.
