Perlisten R5t

The R5t produced impressively extended bass, with the port configuration allowing owners to tailor weight and depth. Opening the ports brought fuller, deeper low frequencies, though one room produced slightly excessive mid-bass until the speakers were moved farther from the wall.

The review describes an accurate, articulate and highly resolving overall character, with a singer's voice held in a notably tangible and secure position. There is less direct discussion of midrange tone or vocal warmth than of imaging and treble refinement.

Upper registers were described as sweet and liquid rather than hard or etched. The speaker also remained clean at higher levels, with scant evidence of the glare associated with driver compression.

Instrument placement and soundstage precision were a clear highlight. The review reports locked-in vocal images, convincing venue ambience, deep projection of brass and drums portrayed well behind the speakers.

The R5t was praised for abundant dynamic range, fast transient response and strong timing. Even during busy, accelerating music, it maintained separation with little sign of compression.

The cabinet was found to feel solid and well built, with excellent fit and finish. Once assembled, the R5t was also considered an exceptionally handsome loudspeaker.

At the reviewed price of $7,995 per pair, the R5t was presented as a more accessible route into Perlisten's range. The reviewer felt it retains many of the desirable sonic traits of the considerably more expensive S series.
